The AKG C 1000 S Condenser Mic is an excellent vocal mic. It works well even from a distance, making it ideal for recording choirs and other live music ensembles. Outstanding performance when used for instruments and ideal for home recording applications.

A special converter (PPC 1000) turns the microphone characteristics from cardioid to hypercardioid if it is mounted on the mic top. The new PB 1000 Presence Boost adapter provides an additional 5dB high-frequency peak in the cardioid mode, adding brilliance in the 5 to 9kHz range. Operates on either phantom power or standard 9V battery, and an LED has been added for low-battery warning. The C 1000 S can also be used for a variety of studio applications.

I own a pair of these and really love them. I bought the first one to use as a boom mic in some zero budget film work I was doing. the hypercardiod adaptor was great for isolating the tallent from the background noise. the 9v batter ment we could go strait into the camera without phantom power. I have also used the pair set up in an x-y pattern to record bands from the back of the room and had great results. I have used this going into my mackie board and into my M-Audio 24/96 flash recorder. A great and versital mic for hobbiest and professional. Also great and durable for news gathering.

Spend your money on a different microphone

I bought an AKG C1000S and was disappointed; on acoustic guitar the upper mids are harsh and grainy. On vocals, the sibilance is quite pronounced. I couldn't find a use for this mic that another microphone didn't do better. AKG makes some great mics but this isn't one of them. Save your money and get their C451B, which is a hundred times better sounding. In the price range of the C1000S, you are better off getting an Oktava mod or an SE mic.

I bought the C1000S about 16 years ago and it has never let me down. I originally needed it because my 4 track didn't have Phantom power. I later got a Mackie 1202. But I've used this thing for vocals, overhead drums, acoustic guitar, classical Guitar, live performance. It's been dropped more times than can remember. This along with my Sure 57 were all I had as I was starting out and never failed me. Sounds great. I Now a few different mics for different things but I'm really glad I bought this when I did. I still use ounce in a while.

I bought a pair and have been recording with them for about 2 years. I use them for overheads on drums, and on acoustic guitar, madolin, fiddle, performance was good. For vocals, they were ok, I wish they were a little more sensitive.

Used once live for accordion with the hyper-cardioid capsule, the accordion cut through the mix unlike other mics.

Best condenser for the price. I've bought a few cheap condensers, and it was a waste of money. Spend the extra bucks, it is worth it.
