Are you kidding me the mic for the money sound great. My son did a rap song on his spike for a friend on the football team at UGA. Using a MP3 karaoke track thru Tracktion 2 and adding his bass thru the insturment channel on the spike and vical with this mic handheld. It came out incredible. The vocals where out front and held effects. Check the specs this is a speech\vocal mic, the low roll of is at 60hz.and the top end is clear and airy. He use's them on drum guitar vocals even overheads and gets great results for mp3 music. I have 10's of K's of $ ivested and don't get much better then he did.

I was kinda suprised by them. If you tweak the equalizer on your mixer a little bit they are good. if you dont have a lot of cash get these. they arent SM58s but for the price they are great. They can be a little muddy at high volumes but they are sturdy and good for backup vocals.

I have an SM58 and a pair of these cheap AKGs. These sound fairly good and are made pretty well. I would not say these are as good as the SM58 but are certainly fine for Kareoke vocals and backing vocals. I mike my electric with one and am impressed with how it sounds. For the money this is a great deal. It's not "junk" like some other budget products. Experts and sound engineers would want better but hobbyists and part timers will be satisfied.

Bought two AKG D 8000 S microphones for a pair of decent knockaround mics for a karaoke venture.

Unfortunately, the gain on both of these mics is far too low to be usable (although one is noticeably lower than the other). When they are cranked up loud enough to be audible, the mics are pretty muddy.

A friend of mine gave me a Nady SP-1, and even this budget special provides better sound than these mics. For a long time, I used an SM58 for lead vocals, the Nady for backups, and the AKGs stayed in the mic case alongside my Sure Unispheres and other like undesirables.

I recently got this mic with a mixer I bought and I think im starting to notice a trend in AKG mics: muddiness. These mics are nearly impossible to get an acceptable vocal sound with. The sound is mostly low-mids and requires ALOT of HF boost and lots of low frequency filtering. However, I did get a decent sound with this mic on my drummers kick drum although it (being dynamic) is very placement sensitive. If you're looking for a high quality vocal mic for not much cash, i would recomend the Behringer XM8500 which sounds almost identical to the SM58
