Best for radio broadcasters

I have used the k141 for over 8 year up to this day. The bottom line is, I won't recomend this headphone for live mixing or DJ'ing. The best enviroment for these headphones are in a broadcast setting, they were designed for sound quality not loudness. They are open air thus you can hear all that is going on around you at the same time monitering your on air program. In a quiet studio with a K141 on your ear you won't know where the music is comming from, it's pure quality. Take care of your equipment and they would last a long long time. Used by radio stations all over the world.

I used to have a pair of AKG K240s that I used for years and loved. After a while though, the connection started to go bad and I had to jiggle the cable (where it connects to the headphones) to get any sound to come out. The K141s looked like a good replacement and cost about what I spent on the K240, so I bought them. When I put them on for the first time I noticed that the pads around the earpieces are significantly smaller than the K240s. And after wearing them for an hour, my ears were hurting. They sounded alright for a while but within a two months were overdriving. To add insult to injury, I've only had them for four months and the connection has already gone bad. Now I have to jiggle the cable where it meets the headphone to get them to work at all - The same problem that I had with the K240s after years of flawless performance! I don't abuse my headphones or anything... it just seems that AKG can't get this right.

I've had the K 140's for 25 years (pretty much the same). They are clean, produce the whole range from the deepest bass to the highest highs as good as anything I've heard. I've never had a problem with them. Highly recommended.

I said overall a 3 only because while these headphones have great sound for the money, IF something goes wrong with them (like say the cable shorts out on you)...good luck finding a replacement.

I use these with a pair of KRK V8 monitors, I was surprised how well mixes translated when checked on the monitors, solid bass and funky 70's look.
