Mic Only Shockmount Case, Right-facing Singer 1 Singer 2 Guitar

With the AKG Perception 200 Condenser Mic, you get the extras that professionals need for demanding studio work, or for live music applications. Its large diaphragm delivers a full 20Hz-20kHz frequency response that will capture every nuance of any voice or instrument. It can be used in sound fields as high as 145dB, thanks to a switchable -10dB pre-attenuation pad. If you need to place the Perception 200 close to a chesty-voiced singer or a bass-heavy instrument, the mic has a low-frequency roll-off switch that engages a 12 dB-per-octave filter at 300Hz to minimize boominess. It comes with a full-size studio shockmount that eliminates mic stand vibration or footfalls from interfering with your recording and includes a hardshell road case to protect the mic from damage. Backed by AKG's generous 2-year parts and labor warranty.

I have a large collection of mics due to trying to find one that improves my voice. This sounds better than the AKG C2000B that I was very happy with before, and it surpasses a Sterling and an Audio Technica 4050/CM5 condensor mic that cost a whole lot more. Plus it's built very well, and the shock mount is robust. I run it through a PreSonus tube mic pre, and it sounds great. It has warmth and clarity without being shrill - if you've been waiting for a chance to get a good condensor mic at low cost, wait no longer - this is it!

I've been using this mic for podcasting every single evening for 3 years now and it still sounds amazing. I tried several large diaphragm condensers, and this one blew me away from the start. It's supposed to be identical to the Perception 100, only with the -10db pad, yet I immediately noticed the difference. It picks up the full range of my voice without compromise. Almost too well for singing vocals. *grin* I can't recommend it enough.

I've had mine for a couple years now and I'm happy with it. I've used better vocal mics but not by much, and they were 5 times the price. As an active songwriter in the nashville market I've pitched many songs with this mic as the key piece of equipment.

I bought this AKG Perception 200 relatively recently, however I had been eyeing it and contemplating purchasing it for quite a long time... maybe 6 months or so. And I am thoroughly pleased with it. I use this mic for vocals, for acoustic guitar (in addition to a perception 150), electric guitar amp (in addition to a Sm57), and I'm sure I could count on this mic to do just about any job I'd need. Granted, you could do better, but then again, I'm a 17 year old kid who's been recording for about 3 or 4 years, and making money by tutoring neighbors in algebra. I didn't have the money to afford a Neumann ... however, seeing as the only mic I had in my bedroom studio for about 2 or 3 years was a Sm58, I did have a need for a new mic and I decided to get what I could for the money I had. That's what attracted me to this jewel. For the price, I believe that this mic cannot be beat. My vocals cut through clearly on everything I record. I'm a baritone, and I recently recorded a version of House of the Rising Sun and I was singing it in a very low octave, something that should have been sung by a bass. So, because I was, in certain parts, singing to the bottom of my vocal range, I was not belting or anything, in fact I was singing pretty quietly. And, frankly I was amazed when I heard the play back: despite the low volume of my vocals, the mic picked them up very cleanly, and they cut through the guitar, bass, and organ tracks very clearly. This is really a great mic, and unfortunately, it won't be for sale much longer because AKG has put out a new version of it. I would recommend this one over the new one, but the Perception 200s are going quick I believe, so I recommend you buy this great mic pretty soon.

Great mic

This is basically the pro sound that I expected. There are hard S's- but if you listen closely, you can hear that on most pro recordings; and it distorts when you get in close. (Near-field effect?) If you sit back a little (0.5-1ft), however, you get an amazing sound. These are definitly not dynamic mics. I used to have to load on the effects (EQ, Compression, Chorus, etc.) just to get any kind of 'natural sound'. Now, I can get away with clear sound. Sensitive mic. Get a booth, or try the roll-off @300hz with the -10db pad. Overall, an awesome investment. Oh yeah, and get a pop filter too.
