After using pro channel I switched to voice channel, great, compressor, deesser,equalizer and a great optical feature, double outputs one preamp output and another "clear" analog output. USB support (haven't used it yet)might be something new in this field. What they're charging for this thing is a great price. Probably the best preamp in this price range

I have a semi-pro home studio and I was looking for a single, professional style preamp to record primarily vocals and some bass guitar. I have had the Voice Channel now for about a month and I must say that I am extremely pleased. It is certainly an "all in one" preamp - it has compression, a gate/expander, a deesser, flexible eq, and even the ability to tailor the preamp to your mic resistance. The components are laid out in a very intuitive way. I was able to sit down and begin using it immediately without reading the manual. This is a GREAT sounding channel - I have the Presonus Firestudio and it has an immediately noticiable edge over those preamps. The Voice Channel has more depth and clarity and is much quieter at higher gain settings. The compressor is VERY transparent even at higher compression ratios. There isn't very much character in the compression (i.e sound coloration), but if you like that, you will be very pleased as I was. The EQ is semi-parametric and is very musical and usable. The gate/expander is transparent and smooth - I don't hear any artifacts at all even when I push it hard. The digital outs are great. One thing to remember, you do lose significant dynamic range when you use the USB as compared to the other digital connections. All-in-all the Voice Channel can't be beat in this price range. I really see it's true worth as being much more than it's price. ART truly has a winner here in my opinion. It will be in my rack for a long time to come.

I'm a professional mixing engineer. I just recently recieved my new voice channel and the I/O features on this thing are amazing for the price. The sound is very clean, very defined. I also love the post /pre EQ option, It's very musical sounding. Just a little thing I kinda hoped that the eq gain knobs would have the "clicking" feature that the input and output knobs have but the lines that are drawn on the black faceplate are pretty accurate so no big problem there. Overall this is a very stable, very musical unit, extremly condusive to the tracking process. I use an Avantone CV-12 mic with this pre and the marrige with these two are Perfect~
