The Alesis M1 Active 620 monitor speakers offer incredible definition and flat frequency response with the help of high-precision drivers and a carefully designed crossover. The rear port provides deep bass extension and high SPL output, and the rear-mounted EQ switches allow the user to tailor the speaker to the studio environment. A 1"-thick front baffle minimizes speaker resonance and the acoustic waveguide evenly disperses high-frequency sound. The Bass Density control lets you to dial in balanced sound regardless of room or placement. The Alesis M1 Active 620's top-mounted power/clip indicator lets you know if the speaker is clipping.

Don't Buy Alesis

I purchased two Alesis monitors about a year ago, and already one of them has failed (just blinks off an on, it's a useless piece of garbage now). I read another review from someone who had the exact same problem (called the death blink). I will never purchase an Alesis product again.

Do NOT buy these monitors

Eventually, you'll end up with a monitor that doesn't work......the blue power light will blink at you and there will be no sound. Alesis does NOT recognize this as a problem, although the internet is FULL of these stories. One of mine did the "death blink", and I read up about it. The capacitor in location C8, melts down due to a design flaw. The resistor next to it heats up and kills the capacitor in c8. There are replacement options, which I tried..but after 4 hours of use, it came back to the same problem. Blinking power light and no sound. When I opened up my speaker, it was JUST as the internet reports had said. The capacitor had melted all over the board due to a "design flaw" I spoke wiht Alesis and they do not recognize this fact. DO NOT BUY ALESIS FOR MONITORS. You'll be sorry for sure.......and alone to deal with your broken speaker. Like you, I play for $$, and the amount that I spent on Alesis.............isn't worth it. I might as well flushed my $$ down the toilet. Same result............I'm out of money and I STILL don't have a monitor for mixdown. Do your homework folks, and DO NOT put your trust in Alesis.

My job depends on my presentation!

My profession as a songwriter depends on excellent demos. The Alesis 620's delivers what I need and more. I need to hear exactly what I am putting on tape/disc and the 620's are spot on for me. You cannot touch this sound and quality for under 1K with any other brand. With total control over the sound via the onboard switches, you can tailor the sound to fit your room. Non treated space? No problem with theses monitors. Just dial in the speakers for your liking. Simple as that.

These speakers sound beautiful. The imaging is fantastic, and there is no stress on the ears. I did notice that if you mount them on independent speaker stands, the bass will really shine. This has really made mixing a lot easier on me, especially doing rock styles.

I got these to replace unpowered Alesis Monitor One MKIIs. Their sounds are quite similar. These produce better imaging (due to the biamped and crossover design). The tweeters also sound less harsh with the bass falling off more gracefully toward very low frequencies.

Without regard to my previous speakers, I found these to be quite good. There seems to be enough adjustments on the back to tailor it to your room. For my 12 x 12 room in my house it sounded fine flat. The bass is punchy and as smooth as I would ever expect from a 6 1/4 woofer with a ported design. The mids and high range is where this monitor really shines. Very full without much ear fatique.

Put your head up to the tweeter with the power turned on but the gain all the way off. I can hear slight hiss in my quiet project studio room. It's somewhat annoying.

Despite that I found these speakers to be a great buy. The salesguy knocked off 39 dollars and with the $50 mail in rebate, the total cost is $310 before tax, not bad.
