The versatile Alesis Transactive 50 mixer/amplifier provides 50W of power and combines a 5" woofer and 1" tweeter with 2 input channels, one aux input, a selection of internal digital effects, and 3-band EQ, making it ideal for many applications, from practice or stage amplification for musicians to an intimate PA setup for vocalists. Channel 1 features a combo connector for accepting microphones with either XLR or 1/4" connectors.

The Transactive 50's compact size and a handle slot built into the rugged injection-molded enclosure makes it easy to transport and it fits in anywhere with a variety of setup options. A mic stand mount on the underside of the enclosure facilitates polemount usage, or it can be wall-mounted and used as an installed PA cabinet. Fluorescent lighting above the front panel controls makes it easy to see in dark clubs. Best little speaker...

I use mine for sales presentations at trade shows in combination with the AKG WMS40 Pro Sports Set Flexx UHF Diversity Wireless System with C444L Headset. It rocks, plain and simple. It is plenty loud enough to fill a hall with my voice and is discrete (often people ask where my speaker is). The effects are great and add presence to my voice. I have plugged my guitar in as well and have been happy with the results. To the whiners who say it isn't loud enough I say you're wrong. Though it is a bit wimpy if I run my guitar straight into the speaker, when I use my Roland GP-100 as a preamp it is plenty loud. (Which I ALWAYS do--I mean, come on, who doesn't run effects of some sort!) I bought a second as a backup for my work and have tried the stereo link feature and was impressed with this as well.

I was looking for a small practice rig for my guitar. I own a couple of small tube amps - but even the small ones can make too much noise and they ALL have to be cranked in order to experience that sweet tube breakup. I started looking for other options - and found a very good one in the Line 6 PodXT. The only problem was - my POD sounded great through headphones - but not so good through my (tube) amps. So I was looking for an amp setup that wouldn't "color" the tones coming out of my POD.

That's where the Alesis Transactive 50 helped out. I bought this and - WOW ... simply amazing! It's small, and it reproduces my PodXT tones perfectly without coloring them. It also comes with some basic effects that I thought I wouldn't ever use - but I do now because they are pretty good. Additionally - I can plug my Ipod into this thing and jam right along with any song I have on my Ipod. I mean ... it doesn't get any simpler or easier than that. Sounds awesome too!

I highly recommend this rig - it's INFINITELY more versatile than any regular guitar amplifier setup you could come up with. If you don't have a lot of money - but want a really versatile rig - this is it.

Toy, not a real amp!

I can get more power from my 10 watt cheapo guitar amps. Quality is nice, it is solid, but Alesis really messed up on this one. Crank it up to ten and it's still not loud! Try the Yamaha MSR100. This is a toy.
