A massively versatile makeover of the popular GL2200.
The Allen & Heath GL2400-24 Live Console Mixer enhances PA systems with its dual-function 24-channels loaded to the teeth with features you need for all kind of live audio mixing applications. The GL2400-24 mixer offers 4 group, 6 aux, and LR mixes, enhanced 7x4 matrix, multi-source stereo channels, and aux-fed subs capability.
Dual Functionality:
When mixing Front-of-House, the monitors can be set pre-insert as well as pre-EQ to prevent your house mix EQ and compression affecting the stage mix. Per channel the 24-channel mixer's aux switching means you can mix pre-fade with post-fade sends such as theatre radio mics and sound effects. As a monitor console, the aux masters have faders, inserts, mutes, meters and balanced XLR drive. You even get a fader controlled engineer' wedge feed. The Groups and LR mixes are still available to create yet more sends. In monitor mode the GL2400 audio mixer can provide up to 10 mixes, for example 6 wedge and 2 stereo IEM.
Performance:
Allen & Heath's mic preamp has an extended 74dB gain range with massive headroom able to deal with the widest range of signals right up to +34dBu. From a low-noise mix amp through responsive 4-band EQ to the differential balanced +26dBu outputs, every stage has been carefully designed to ensure optimum gain structure and the best sonic performance possible.
Third Fader:
There are 3 master faders on the Allen & Heath GL2400 Mixer. A configurable M fader lets you create an LR sum mono fill, an engineers monitor wedge feed, or a dedicated center or sub-bass speaker mix from Aux 6 which means you can dial in exactly what you need from each channel. L, R ,and M each provide a dedicated meter, mute, AFL, and balanced XLR output.
7x4 Matrix:
The mixing console's matrix is a big feature for corporate AV work, specialized recording and broadcast feeds, and personal monitoring. Smart auto-switching of the external inputs lets you add a common mono, stereo, or independent sources to the matrix. Cross patch from the stereo channel mic breakpoints add room ambiance to your recording and IEM feeds.
Dual Stereo Channels:
These 2 multi-function channels provide a mic and 2 stereo line inputs each. Use the channels on this Live Console Mixer as mic inputs while the 4 stereos are independently routed to LR, or combine stereo sources such as backing tracks and reverbs while the mics are patched elsewhere. Or use conventional stereo channels while the second inputs provide additional returns and the mics patch into the matrix for ambiance.

I moved to this board about a year ago after finally letting go of my old GL2000. I shopped & listened to 8-10 other mixers, but for the features, price, & above all SOUND, the GL2400 can't be beat. It is MUCH more solid than anything Mackie makes. In the year I've had it I've had no problems whatsoever with it. My GL2000 survived almost 10 years of constant one nighters, & the 2400 promises to be just as reliable. The matrix allows for some great off-the-board recordings, as well as independent feeds for house or other external PA systems. You can even use it to drive a separate set of subwoofers for just certain instruments, such as to reinforce the kick drum or bass. The individual outs are great for aux effects sends as well as monitor mixes. I wish it offered 8 aux busses instead of only 6, but having the matrix & the direct outs allow me to accomplish what the band needs. Although you only see two stereo faders, there are really a total of 4 stereo inputs...great for stereo effects returns or keyboards / sound modules. If you want a board that sounds better you're looking at paying more than double this price. You'll love this desk.

i've owned this mixer for about a year now, and i use it as the main input mixer in my studio. the mic pre's are really clean and warm sounding. the EQ is fantastic. 100mm are a really nice touch as is the insanely flexible Matrix in the main/monitor section. direct outs on each channel can be configured pre or post EQ by changing an internal jumper on each channel. i love this mixer! you can't beat it for the money!
Well, no doubt for its price best you can get. Only missing an "air control" for each sub group as the Mackie 32R, but not essential.
May be you need certain time to adjust your eyes for the way how faders control and group/L/R assigned are placed (opposite to Mackie), but it is worthy.

This is my first and last professional mixer. This mixer is so crisp and clean. The pre-amps are very clean and natural sounding. Just listening to music playback gives you the feeling that the singer was right in front of you singing "live ". There's so much bells and whistles and configurations which makes it very flexible in any situation. The " MATRIX " on it is awesome. I haven't used the Matrix yet but just reading about it is a big asset. The 2 "stereo " channels actually is doubled if you look at the rear of the console there are total of 4 stereo 1/4" inputs with individual gain controls. This is an "affordable" high end console. Just buy this and you won't need any other mixer.
