P64 LED - DMX RGB Color Mixing PAR Can

The DMX-compatible P64 LED PAR cans from American DJ are equipped with LEDs that let you create virtually any color via RGB color mixing.

Unlike conventional PAR cans that produce a limited number of colors using gel filters, the P64 LED's RGB color mixing process combines red, green, and blue LEDs to create any desired shade. The P64 LED is equipped with 151 LEDs (51 red, 49 green, and 51 blue).

With cutting-edge RGB mixing, the P64 LEDs give you complete control over the color scheme of your lighting presentation, right from your DMX controller. Great for clubs, stage productions, concerts, churches, presentation ceremonies, displays, and architectural applications, the P64 LEDs make it easy to design customized colors to set any mood or highlight any object or event.

In addition to creating limitless colors, the P64 LEDs are very economical to operate. The fixtures run on low voltage, which make them extremely energy efficient. The LED lamps also have an exceptionally long life span, saving you money on maintenance and lamp replacement.

Another big benefit of lighting with LEDs is that the fixture operates with limited UV emission, producing very low heat. This makes it great for stage applications, because it helps maintain a comfortable temperature onstage for musicians and performers. What's more, the P64 LEDs will not cause fading or discoloration when placed near an object, so it's ideal for highlighting displays and exhibits, as well as for close-range architectural applications.

Practical and versatile, the P64 LEDs can be operated in three modes: auto mode, sound-active mode, or DMX control mode.

In auto mode, the P64 LEDs will automatically display a smoothly scrolling chase of colors, the rate of which can be controlled via a speed knob on the unit. In sound-active mode, the unit will react to the music and display color chases through different built-in programs.

The third option for operating the units is the DMX control mode. With 6 DMX channels, you can control each individual trait using a standard DMX-512 controller. In this mode, the electronic 0-100% dimming and the RGB color mixing let you adjust the brightness of each color, the bright/dim sequencing of the colors, the color mixing, and the strobing to create a show completely customized to your needs.

The P64 LEDs have a wider beam diameter designed for larger staging applications such as theatrical performances, church productions, or concerts. The fixture comes with a hanging bracket that can support suspended applications.

I've seen this exact package hooked up at a cd release party in San Antonio earlier in the year.

I have to say that I was quite impressed with the overall performance. I'm not really sure how they were routed and programmed, but I believe they were all chained together in sync.

They were incredibly bright... However, they weren't the only lights actively participating either. The "Scout Bar" fits approximately 200 nut to butt... And the lights filled the area pretty adequately.

Moreover, there were times when the patterns didn't seem to reflect the atmosphere with the crowd and the music itself.

Like I said, I don't know if they were sound active at the time, but most of the show seemed to have been programmed considering the surrounding DMX operated fixtures.

Perhaps a nifty time at your local outlet would better suit your curiousity.

Sorry - I made a big mistake and misread the manual...this DMX Operator Unit accepts incoming MIDI signals and has the ability to switch to any Bank Scene or any of the 6 Chase patterns by sending midi note/number information. I am going to control it using my PODXT Live pedal...or any other midi interface.
