The JT30 Roadhouse Harmonica Microphone is an exclusive version of this Astatic by Hohner hand-held mic with volume control. The JT30 Roadhouse Microphone produces that classic, dirty Chicago blues harp tone.

The JT30 was introduced over 50 years ago as an inexpensive and rugged crystal element microphone for public address systems and Ham radio operators. Blues players discovered that the JT30's emphasis of the voice's midrange frequencies produced a raw, honking sound when they cupped their harmonica against broad front of this bullet mic. Over the years, the JT30 has become the favorite harp mic for many established blue harpists.

The JT30 Roadhouse uses the same mold for the mic housing that Astatic used to build the original JT30 mics. When played through a vintage-style tube amp, the frequency response of the JT30's crystal element duplicates the warm, slightly distorted "Mississippi Sax" tone that harp players crave.

Includes 20' cable with XLR female connection designed to fit the threads of the JT30 and a 1/4" male adapter that plugs directly into a guitar amp.

Suprise...Its' got Tone

I have been playing harp for 38 years, the last 20 proffesionaly. And....I collect,build and restore vintage Astatic, and Shure Bullet Mics. I bought one of these on sale to see how they were holding up, test it out, then I was going to take it apart, and use it for parts. I tried it out on my Fender Bassman Reissue, and my Fender Blues Jr. Well....I have to be honest, I was suprised at the tone. Very smooth deep bottom end, and the high end tone was decent. Of course, it dosn't matter how good of an amp, or mic you have, if you don;t have tone in your body, no cool amp or mic will magicaly make you sound like Little Walter, or any fine harp player. Of course, I wish everyone would buy my harp mics, but I must admit, this is a decent alternative.

Great price on this Decent remake of the classic JT-30. I've never played thru an old original, bit this mic thru a tube amp sounds decent. Not quite as Fat/Warm as I would like but turn the amps Bass way up and Treble way down and it sounds good. I've played thru it at some Acoustic & Electric gigs and it sounds good. Good Deal!

While this isn't the original this sounds great. I appreciate the details they did like the screw type cable and documentation. Good growl and tone and a worthy addition to my collection.
