For the price, I think this is a fantastic microphone. It's very versatile. I purchased it to use primarily for vocals, but I've found that it works great to mic guitar cabinets as well. The 10db pad is especially helpful in this area. Some of these reviews state that it's not good for recording acoustic guitar. I think that depends a lot on mic placement. I found it works great when you stereo-mic the acoustic. I've had pretty good results when I record an acoustic using the AT3035 and an SM57. It works pretty well as a drum overhead as well. Of course this mic won't sound as well as some of the mics that cost $1000+, but I think in the $200-500 range, it outdoes it's competitors.

Great microphone for the price being asked. As long as you pay attention to your recording environment, mic placement, and the talent's recording technique, then this mic won't do you wrong. Coupled with at least a decent mic pre, and some good software or hardware signal processors, you can get a really great full sound out of this mic with relatively little effort.

I use it for vocals (have had it for almost a year now) and I've never been dissatisfied with any of the recordings.

It only comes with a roll-off switch and pad (expected cause of it's price range) but the shock mount is pretty sturdy. It holds the mic pretty snug and I've never feared it would slip out. I would've given the feature section a 2.5 for average features, but the shock mount bumps that to 3.5. I gave it a 5 in quality, because it's the best in it's class so to speak, and a 5 for value, because... Well, it's low price!

AT3035 -- Good Stuff

Blows most good dynamic mics completely away. I've only owned this mic about a month and my vocal & acoustic guitar tracks no longer need EQ adjustments. You are basically recording almost exactly what you are hearing; which quanifies a good mic.

This was my first side address condenser. Since then I've bought many other condenser mics (including another one of these), and these still has a valuable place in my locker. I've used them on acoustics, amps, vocals, and percussion. They're so versatile. My favorite use thus far believe it or not is drum overheads. This is an entry level mic and it kicks the crap out of anything in it's price range. If you're looking for a lower end condenser, this one is for you. It's a great mic to build your collection upon.

This is my fav mic we have in our studio on campus. We started recording my Mesa half stack with a SM57 and this just to see what we liked better. The AT3035 blew the SM57 out of the water. the quality was so good, Ended up using it for vocals and couldn't be happier. It's great for the price. Going to buy it in the upcoming weeks!
