Works fine for what it was designed for. Since this headset version is: "Polar pattern: Omnidirectional", you get what you pay for.... there are many "DIRECTIONAL" headsets out there, so get a directional headset for hi-volume situations. With that said, this headset is great for Lo-volume environments (lectures, plays/musicals). Just don't expect to rock out with an Omni... (I use a highly directional E6. there are different levels of omni & directional when you check the features of all these headsets). good luck/enjoy...

This is not a hard rock scream into it microphone. It simply takes the place of a lapel mic that a preacher would wear for example, and with the proper equalization will sound louder, clearer and offer more gain before feedback than any other "mini-mic" out there. I have had other guests at my venues ask if it is an E6 because theirs always seems to sound like you're speaking into a straw (tube like sound). They are amazed at the quality and that I am able to use 8 units (loud) on stage at the same time without feedback. Professionally, if you do not know how to "tune" or "ring out" your sound system, you have no business using any type of condenser headset or lavalier microphone in a live situation. They can go 0 to feedback faster than a woman with PMS. The only reason I submit a rating lower than 5 is because of the delicate cable and termination. Frankly, all lavs and mini headsets are plagued with the same problem. If 2.5 is average, than the A-T 892 is near perfect. I have been a sound engineer over 30 years, this unit is great but needs TLC when handling.

Disappointed

Tried using the AT892c with Sure equipment. Ive gotta admit, was really clear and light weight. However while using it in a live stage performance i discovered it wouldnt stay in place at all. Also, the sound quality when compared to my usual sm57 was totally unacceptable. While powerful and clear, it had no (gutts). I use a simple 8 channel Yamaha p.a. head without any enhancers other than whats onboard. My suggestion is that if you are in the same situation, this mic is not for you unless you use some type of sound enhancers that will give it a boost. Other wise youre in for a great disappointment.

Most of what AT has done here is truly outstanding. Very comfortable design, remarkable quality sound and an attractive price. So what's the beef. This mic is only available as omnidirectional. Tantamount to dropping the ball! If they're competing with the Countryman E6 line then why not offer a cardiod configuration that would actually be functional in most live sound situations? If you like ringing and a bit of squealing with your high fidelity audio sound then the AT892C is for you. Having said that, if AT makes a cariod version of this mic, I'll be the first to buy one!
