Best cheap headphones, Can't go wrong with them...

I have a pair of this headphones, and i just love them. I also own 6 AKG K271. The good thing of Audio Technica headphones, is that they add a little extra low end, so they are quite good for playback. In my personal experience, i've noticed that musicians like them much better than AKG. I think AT are more musical. The cons: must take care of the cable, and its true that the speaker some times fall off if you handle them rude (but it's simple to place them back)and at high volumes they can't issolate perfectly well. I have them for about 6 years, and they work perfectly. AKG have a wider freq. range and flatter response. They have an invisible on-off switch, so they stop playing when you take them off. So the have better features and quality. AKG K271 (and alike) are headphones best suited for engineers, producers or people interested on freq. accuracy in my opinion. AT better for musicians or for playback.

Bang for your Buck

I own a recording studio here in Chicago, and have been working in the business for quite some time. I have owned Ultrasones, Beyers, AKG's and the like...but for sixty bucks, you just can't go wrong with these headphones. I have grown so accustomed to their tonality that I just can't use anything else anymore.

I've owned 3 pairs of these because drummers keep sweating on them and breakin' them.

For around 50 bucks you really can't argue with what you get here. These are great sounding headphones. I don't know how they'd stand up to being tossed around in a true studio setting or anything but for home recording they fit the bill for recording and light mixing. The sound is not fatiguing in any way and you could listen for hours. They fit pretty well, too. I've heard some higher end Senns and AKGs and these get you about 90% of the way there.

best headphones I've ever owned

I'd like to qualify that I docked quality a star only because I've never had any experience with the $300+ headphones I see some mentioning. However, these blow anything else I've ever used out of the water, including those that cost 2-3x more. For monitoring, they are very flat, allowing you to hear fine details in a way that makes you aware of potential issues in a sonically objective way; though nobody should be using cans to mix, they reveal detail greater than my studio monitors, so they're great for auditioning single tracks. I find them comfortable, they don't slip off your head while you're wearing them, and the isolation level is pretty spiffy too!

Very Fragile.....

Headphones sound decent but are very fragile. After pulling them off and on a few times the speaker snapped off. Also, I didn't care for the wiring as it is very thin and most likely prone to shorting out. I only used mine for a month and since they've broke I haven't used them, I am planning on trying to fix them though, I guess they're worth the time.
