I have used this mic for over a year and have come to really love it. Sturdy construction well made comfortable to hold and cup with a harp.Havn't had any issues with it so far. I have been in another rock , blues, country band for almost a year now. Recording and gigging with this mic has been a success. I was using a green bullet for blues thru a tube amp with good results but some thing was missing. I discovered I can still get that fat blues tone and tube break up all blues players lust for with this mic ran thru my vintage tube amp plus I have this clarity I never had before with less feed back. I will admit the green bullet sounded better thru a Hohner HooDoo box amp. But this amp I'm using now loves the FireBall. Looks like the bullet just got bumped back to 2nd place.
Give this mic a chance I done't think you'll be sorry!

Audix FireBall - V Harp Mic

Had mine about 2 months now, also have green bullet and blues blaster, play thru a 59 bassman ltd reissue and a modded blues jr., with the other two mics always fighting with feed back when trying to get enough volume to over come guitars and bass and drums, with out mic ing my amp thru PA. No feedback here with Fireball V, get great tomes for blues and classic rock, not sure if I can go back to my old mics now. Plus you can use effects pedals still with minimal feed back issues when driving it hard. Try it out good value, and great mic.
Long live the Harp for Rock and Blues.

Great Mic, Solid Rich Sound

I have played thru this mic about 8 times now.
Here is a list of the observations I've made so far.
1- The mic signal is very strong,"I'm pluged thru the snake to the sound board and the sound man has to cut the trim way back to mix me in" at max volume position on the mic.
2- The mic has a good bottom end,top end and mid range."some mic's I've used have either one or the other " this one has all three.
3- This mic produces a good clean pleasing tone but I can drawn down"#2draw bent" and get a nice distorted sound. Not as easy as my Green bullet but is possiable to do, also the "over blows" come off nicely, Hey I can even sing thru the mic and my voice sounds good.
4- The mic fits very well in my cupped hands. It's balanced well, not to heavy and is the right size diameter.
5- The mic feels and looks to be well made.
6- The volume control is well placed and not real loose so you done't accidently move it.
7-There is no on/off switch so I just roll the volume control to the lowest position and every things fine,no need for the switch.
8- Handling noise is not an issue along with breath noise. The internal pop filter is a nice extra also.I havn't noticed a feed back problem either
9- Price is compairable to other mic's of this quality.
10- mic clip and carry pouch included. I also got a set of Peadmont blues harps with carry case free with this mic. They are'nt high dollar harps but they are fine for keeping in my truck and playing on the way to work & back.
In closing, If I had to buy another mic right now I would get another FireBall V. Get one and try it, if you done't like it you have 45 days to send it back!
Happy harping, hope this review help's, Mike
P.S. Audix makes a nice Impedance matching transformer I use. It adapts the Low impedance FireBall to a High impedance input effects pedal I use" XLR to 1/4 plug" The # is T-50K.

I have been a front man / harp player in rock bands for 25 years. My sound was a Green Bullet and a tube combo amp. I bought this mic because it claimed to have low feedback, easy to control the volume knob, looked comfortable and it was priced right. I've been looking for something like this for quite some time. I have played out with this mic for 4 months now with very good results. Two thumbs up from my sound man. How long it lasts? I will soon find out.

Having owned several harp mics, I was looking for something different than the usual green bullet or retro style harp mics. The fireball is different in regards to tone and quality. It gives nice high frequencies and solid mid frequency tones. It provides crisp, clean sounds with most amp setups, including right through sound board. It takes little eq adjustments to bring out bright punchy leads. Volume control is a plus and it works well with a good preamp and compressor. It is easy to produce hand wha wha's with and just plain feels good in your hand. It feels lite in your hands not bulky like the bullets do. The more I use it the more I like it. You will too. Give it a try. Happy Harping.
