The American-made Audix OM-2 is a hand-held dynamic vocal microphone designed primarily for live performance. With a hypercardioid pickup pattern and a frequency response of 50-16k Hz, the OM-2 mic has the same well-balanced, comfortable profile as Audix's high-end touring vocal microphones. The OM-2 featuries a low reflective black e-coat finish.

Transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced output allow interference-free performance even with long cable runs. A dent-resistant spring-steel grill and sound pressure handling capabilities in excess of 140dB add to the Audix OM-2's road-worthiness.

OM2 is the 1 for you

The Audix OM2 is , IMO, the best pro sound, anti feedback mic I've used. I own a senn. e 815, and 2 e-822's. I compared the om2 to a 58 and the e-835 (which I origally went to go buy). First off, the sm58 is out of the question compared to this mic. I brought home the sennheiser e 835 knowing the OM2 sounded better and had less feedback because it was a sennheiser, and I didn't want to switch brands. I got home and it sounded like the mics I already had. I called the store and drive 23 miles to exchange it the same day for the OM2. It's has the sound and feedback resistance I have been looking for for a long time. I did a dj gig set up in between 2 2x15 cabs cranked up all night, where the sennheiser would have been howling and squeeling, I left this mic on all night with no problem. It cut through the music like cheese. I even turned up the treble all the way to see what it would do, and it slowly started to feed back, same with the lows, and the sound is a sound that does not sacrifice highs or lows, its a full range, warm sound with a clear intelligable smooth creamy mids. (hotter than the Sennhieser and 58 at high volume but you have to almost kiss it)I'm sold on this Audix!

I'm not going to sound fake and say that I'm the best sound person that's ever lived, but I've been using the sm58, the senn e835, and I recently bought three of these mic's. This mic cuts through the mix like no other. It's extremely crisp and rarely feeds back. Give audix a chance and get this mic. (i don't want this review to 'bash' the e835 or the sm58; they are all great mic's....try them all out :] ) feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

Audix OM2 is an Excellent Microphone

The OM2 is an excellent Microphone. Compared to the Shure SM58, I would go with the Audix OM2. They are at the exact same price point anyway. However, the OM2 is more clear, crisp and fuller sounding in my opinion. The OM2 just sounds better. Yes, it may be true that Shure microphones outsell all other competing brands, however, Shure microphones are way overrated. Try Audix. They are a smaller company and they pay more attention to detail. Don't buy something just because everyone else says it's the thing to buy. Try the Audix OM2 if you are in the market for a pro level quality microphone in the $99 price range.

I picked one of these pups used, to mic my snare with my fusion set, because it was cheap (got it used), and I'll tell you what it sounds amazing. Yes I understand it is intended for Vocals, but it sounds amazing on my snare drum! I have not gotten around to testing it on a guitar amp or vox but I'm sure it will sound awesome as well.

Pick one Up.
