You get what you pay for with this unit, if your on a strict budget this unit will get you recording music. Don't expect to get the clarity and transparency of the higher priced pre amps. Like I said you get what you pay for. All in all it is a good value for the buck. The price of these units has dropped substantially since I purchased mine to about half making it an even better value.

I posted below awhile ago, more with this product since then: I added a second ADA8000 to get 24 digital tracks, worked great for our album, since then the older unit quit on me. It was 3-4 years old, I agree it should have lasted longer then that I hope it isn't an issue again, but still for the price I am able to buy 2 of these in addition to my Firestudio for way cheaper. I could buy 2-3 behringer ADA8000 for 1 firestudio. Word clock is very important I have better luck using the ADAT LightPipe to sync them than the BNC cable. still occassionally hack crackling on the behringer channels not the firestudio cant figure if its a bad optic cord or defect. Reseting Cubase SX3 & G5 Mac seems to fix it temporarily. Good way to get more cheap tracks.

I bought the ADA 8000 less than a year ago and already it stopped working. I tried to get it fixed but I registered it later than the time, so behringer did nothing. From the begining I never was thrilled with it, the mic pres sounded weak and tinny. I had heard about bad experiences with behringer products before I bought it but couldn't afford the presonus at the time. So save your money for the class "A" mic pres and you will be much happier with the sound you get.

This Thing Rocks

My band wanted a way to end up with multi-track recordings at 24bit without spending a ton of money. Since we rehearse in my basement, I wanted this capability to come with the least amount of equipment. With this solution, I run 8 inputs into the box...I have a single fiber optic out...which runs to my Emu 1212m card. We use Sonar or the multi-track recording. Right click, choose "arm for record" and hit the red button. What we end up with are 8 pristine tracks. There is NO noise in there. No hum. Nothing but the instrument that's connected. I will go so far as to say this is THE most important hardware I've purchased for my studio. I'm trying to find out if I can daisy chain it with one more so I can get 16 simultanious tracks through the Emu card. I can't say enough. Buy it. Set your sampling switch correctly...and you will be elated with the results!

People having problems with noise and Behringer products might want to use a different outlet. I have used Behringer stuff and never had a noise problem. This thing does exactly what it promises with no muss and no fuss. Great Sonics but you have to set it up right!
