The innovative, active 2-channel Behringer DI20 Ultra DI 2-Channel Active DI Box/Splitter takes the signal directly from an unbalanced high-impedance output-like an electric guitar-and feeds it directly into a mixing console or recorder. It is ideally suited to augment the traveling gear of musicians (especially guitar/bass players) as well as live/studio/broadcast engineers, installation contractors, and studios/live event engineers. The DI20 converts 2 separate unbalanced 1/4" jack inputs into 2 balanced XLR outputs. There is a 2-channel/link mode for flexible use as mono, 2-channel, or splitter box. In link mode, channel 1 can be split up into 2 balanced XLR connectors plus one unbalanced 1/4" jack connector. Switchable input attenuation in 3 ranges allows input levels of up to +48dBu, while a ground lift switch eliminates typical ground loop problems. Operates on 9V battery or 48V phantom power. Ultracompact rugged housing.

Used this unit several years ago. Got it back out today. Ran a small mixer thru one channel and an SR16 thru the other into the house system. Had some hiss, flipped the ground lift, and it got quiet. Works great and was thinking about buying another one when I saw all these bad reviews.

I've used two of these units for several years now. I can say that, from my experiences, it works best with "hot" signals. Anytime I have tried to plug in a bass guitar or anything else with a very low output signal you have to crank up your gain and you get bad hiss. The signal to noise ratio is not good. When used for very hot sources there is less problems with noise. Right now I am using one to connect the headphone output of a laptop to our PA and it seems to work great as long as I keep the headphone level high on the laptop. It also seems to work well with the stereo output from our keyboard. Over the years I have found myself, at times, disgusted by these units, and other times I am thrilled with thier performance.

Just got this a few months ago, and I'm not even sure if I've used it. Anyway, plugged it in today and it has a very noticeable hiss. I've used other Behringer DI's without any problems. But this one doesn't fall in the same category. I'll try to replace it under warranty, but I'll probably invest in another unit anyway.

Bought 3 of these units b/c that's all a local store had in stock. Used with acoustic-elec guitar, bass, and elec drums. Hissed on all of them. Hissed when nothing was plugged into them. Exchanged all of them for passive boxes ("Connect" by Whirlwind) and have had no problems since. Don't waste your time, unless you just don't care about quality sound.

The physical size of this box was a great selling point to me as I wanted to mount it on my pedalboard. That it has two channels was even better. The downfall of this unit is quality: within two years of purchasing one channel quit & the other followed soon after. If they could build this unit to higher quality standards it would be great- until then, save your money for something better. It's only a bargain if you don't have to replace it.
