Good for monitors

I first experienced the FBQ3102 on the main system of a fairly large rig at a club that I was working at. Definately not my 1st choice for a Front Of House EQ. Maybe good for a small portable system. A little bit noisy and the short faders have a cheep feel. I found the Feedback control system of little use for the main system. However I recently purchased one for a monitor system because the price fit my budget. First time on the job I used it with a EP25000 and 2 JBL SF12m floor monitors. Before the show I set all the sliders on the FBQ3102 a notch or 2 above the flat line. At a low level I adjusted the EQ slightly by ear with a SM58, then went back to the EQ and brought it up slowly till I got some feedback. Notched out the offending frequencies. Did this three times, then brought the input level back down a hair. My Vocal Mikes sounded awesome, Full, clear, and Nice and Loud, NO Feedback whatsoever, Very Easy! The band was very pleased. You could do this for a F.O.H. but when the band is playing The FBQ feature is not much use. Didn't find it usefull as a spectrum analizer either. The Subwoofer output is a parametric Low Pass filter, could by handy for a small rig. Keep in mind that the Xover Freq has NO effect on the main L&R outs. Overall the sound quality is "pretty good", I've heard better, but in this price range this piece stands alone unchallenged. Best Value for the money. I am considering buying another for additional monitor mixes.

It's pretty obvious that the sliders aren't the highest quality along with anything else on this thing, but if you're gentle with it, it'll take care of ya. Alot of helpful features on it, but the Feedback Detection is a load of pucky. It's a signal detection-not just feedback. If you use it during setup and not the performance itself, it can work great for you.

Affects Sound Too Much

I have had decent luck with Behringer products before, but not this time. This equalizer had way too much effect on the sound, even with it in bypass mode. I ended up returning it because I could not correct the noise that this equalizer inserted into the sound.

Hey, it's an EQ

It's an EQ, so it does what it's supposed to do. I like the fact that you can adjust monitor the level coming in and going out, and can adjust the gain. It's very small, so I had it to put it high in my rack, but I've got room to use the back of the rack if I need to. Feedback detection works okay on it, the little red lights show which frequencies are pushing the most power, but it really doesn't tell you which ones are giving feedback, so you end up turning several controls down. It has 2 channels, so instead of running stereo, I run mono - 1 channel to mains, one channel to monitors. That works great for me. The sub out is great, and it has an output control for sub-out. I'm using this as a crossover too, to send signal to my subs.

I didn't expect much from this device because of the price, but I was surprised the first time we turned it on. The FBQ worked great for us. It's very clean, and very quiet, also a surprise. I recommend this EQ highly to anyone wanting great sound for an affordable price.
