One great compressor

This thing works magic on music. It is a compressor, an expander, and a gate all in one. It has some EQ built in, or you can loop your EQ through it through a side-chain. Looping an EQ allows you to adjust those frequencies that are overpowering to prevent the compressor from dropping the level of everything if one frequency gets too high. Pretty simple to use and there are several buttons and knobs to let you adjust all your settings (attack/release/threshold, etc.) There is also an Auto button that lets the Composer decide what the attack/release times are based on the music that you are playing. This thing can be used as a gate with the push of a button, or it can be adjusted to be a soft or hard compressor. I use it on Auto mode, and it works great. This was definitely a great buy, and my whole band agrees that we sound much better now, oh - and since we can crank the volume now without damaging everything we got - very much LOUDER!

We had two of these at the church when I started working there. One of them was noisy and one of the channels went dead so I had to stop using it. The other one is so noisy that I will be replacing it soon. The features it has are nice, and depending on what you are using it for it can function well. However, it is noisy and will not last forever.

Classic Behringer tons of options for entry lvl

I purchased this unit because I needed an additional stereo gate/compressor and honestly it was cheap. Like the title says this is classic behringer, cram as much as possible on one unit and make it affordable. In all reality the quality suffers for it but if you're in the market for a really cheap one (but don't expect too much) your choices are this unit or the Alesis 3630; if you have some compressor experience go for the Alesis, if you need all the help you can get buy this unit. If you have a little bit more money the next step up would be the DBX 266xl (and even further up DBX 166xl)

You get what you pay for.

Compress The Stress Mess

I think for the money, this is decent. The tube button warms things up a bit (good live). The Enhancer is also ok for live work. If your looking for something for guitar or bass go buy a stomp-box. I use this in my home studio, and I also use it live (I'm a house engineer). It hasn't really failed me. It is very transparent, It gets the job done. I personally like The Presonus Blue Max for the pricerange. If you have the money,go for something by ART. But overall, this was a good buy. I wouldn't buy another one though.

Possibly the best compressor for the money?

Surprisingly easy to use given the amount of buttons and knobs this thing has. I like how it gives you an option of using the TRS and XLR inputs and outputs. And the knobs have a nice tactile clikiness to them. One note of warning though for those that use a mic with the compressor: be sure to get a mic preamp first!

Without a preamp, the mic's signal is too weak for the Behringer to compress! I did not know this when I bought the compressor along with an SM58. I went ahead and got an M-Audio DMP3 preamp and it made a HUGE difference. They work beautifully together. If you have a mixer with a decent builtin preamp, that would work, too.
