It does what it says and has a flat, clean, and uncolored sound. It's small size is perfect for my desktop sized, home studio setup, because it bridges the gap between my BR900 CD, computer, stereo, headphones and monitors, and I still have input/output options left.....GREAT DEAL

Clean, uncolored sound. Does the jobs it claims to do very well indeed. The only con I can think of is it has no threded holes in the bottom for mounting to a rack shelf. But a little creative engineeering solved that problem. In the fabric dept. of Wally World, I purchased some stick on velcro dots, now the mini mon rides piggy back on my rack mounted headphone amp, the velcro secures it quite firmly. Get this unit and take the remainder of the $299 you would have spent on a big knob and invest it in a nice pre-amp, or e.q, or condendser, etc.

The frequency response of this device is flat, even at high/low volume levels. It's very low noise, even when providing 15 dB of gain to the signal. Impulse response is not perfect, but pretty good.

Overall, I'm stunned by the performance of this little "pre-amp" for the price. I'm using it with the UCA202 and B2031A's to monitor high school band and piano concert recordings.

Although the entire box is made of plastic, it feels solid and does not flex even when sqeezed hard.

If I could change something about the MON800, I'd opt for balanced TRS outputs and inputs for all of the 1/4" jacks instead of single-ended TS jacks. Besides that, it's perfect for my use.

Just because it's cheap does not mean that you should skimp on cables. In any reasonable installation, the cables will cost several times more than the MON800 for best performance.

This unit does pretty much everything it claims to do, it brings in a signal, directs it, and sends it. It doesn't change the sould quality at all, for better or for worse. a problem with mine is that the mute button became very loose after about a week, so it was used maybe twice. this is a great breakout/source directing device on a budget.

I was supprised to say the least by this product. I needed something to route my monitors and control volume. This seemed like a reasonable gamble for the price. I am blown away by the functionality, straight forward setup and operation and quality. If you have a DAW at home, this is the ticket for monitor managment. The talkback feature is a godsend and was just gravy for my needs. I now have my Events, some M-audio BX4
