Had been using headphones for recording and mixing for a few years, with mixed results. These speakers are supurb. Don t spend a bundle. If you need monitor speakers, these will satisfy .

I have had these for close to a year now, and I have to say that for them being basically large plastic computer speakers, they work really well! They have 8 watts per channel, but don't let that fool you, they can get plenty loud for 8 watts. Their frequency range is stated at 80 to 20k, but they really start to cut off around 100hz. The mid range is slightly forward, so adjusting your vocals & reverb's is pretty easy. Tho the mid's are out front, these speakers are in no way piercing or fatiguing. After getting use to them (like any speaker) you will have no problem making adjustments with them. To make up for that lack of lows that every 4" Woofer-Based monitor has, I am using the old dual 5" sub from my Altec speakers. These speakers are clones of the old Roland monitors in every way EXCEPT that the tweeter is mounted on the Left side of both cabinets, where the Roland's had them as a Mirrored image. You will outgrow them fast, but in a pinch they work very well!

I have always had great luck with Behringer stuff, so when my 10 year old computer speakers I was using for my home setup started to die, I looked around for some "stop gap" monitors and quickly grabbed these. Overall, they are surprisingly nice for being plastic computer monitors. The freq is not that flat, and the low end lacks of course, but they have a nice, punchy sound that is easy to work with. The small tweeters are smooth, not harsh, and when I added my old dual 5" sub to the mix, and placed it low in the background, I started turning out some decent balanced mixes, tho even without the sub I was getting good results. The amount of I/O's, tone controls, and headphone out, makes this a ridiculous deal for the price IMHO. Are they keepers? For now, and would make a decent first pair for a home setup if you are on a budget. But if you can, save some extra$$ and step up some if you are even semi serious about your home setup....the extra $$ is worth it...
