Does the job nicely

I needed a limiter to keep drummers and vocalists with bad mic skills from peaking pre's in live situations and the limiters do this nicely. I'm not using the compressors just the hard limiters and the unit is silent in this situation. No noise added to my system and to be quite honest. I'm recording live bands and need as good a signal coming in as I can get and only 3 or 4 of the 16 mic's get limited as the others simply dont need it...however..for the ones that do, this unit works flawlessly. It's been on 13 sessions thus far and all of them on the road and racked so it's not banged around too much. All channels work ok and no probs. A good value for my uses.

I have to say that despite some bad reviews this is a pretty good unit. Although I dont think I would record with it, it's very good for live PA situations. My band does a lot of three part harmony stuff and it makes our vocals sound full and balanced. Plus the kick drum is is very punchy at tight. We had one of these for about 2 years and it crapped out so we bought another about a year and a half ago and have had no problems with the new one yet. After our first one took a dump we bought a couple of the cheaper dbx ones and they did not sound as good so we sent them back a got one of this again. We play about 30-40 gigs a year so they get their use. Yeah they are cheap but they sound good for live stuff. If you have the extra cash to throw around then go ahead and buy the high dollar stuff but if you dont than this will do you just fine.

The title says it all, the thing is noisy but a good unit for the price. I will probably buy another of these for drum channels before I start investing in higher-end gear.

Behringer compressor rates tops!

Bought one of these units about 10 years ago for my live rack and it has performed without incident under heavy touring commitments since that time. Amplified sound has always been superb and I have used this with much other Behringer rack gear for album productions that have been complimented by internationally renowned mastering engineers and studios. Behringer certainly know how to build great gear at amazing prices - I'm about to grab a B2 studio microphone for my own studio as I have found them elsewhere to be superb units also.

No Problems

I bought our first Multicom Pro-XL MDX4600 almost 2 years ago to compress live vocals. Several weeks ago we added a second one that we are using on a kick drum, drum overheads, and a keyboard. When we lost a singer, we started using the first one on a guitar cabinet. We have had no problems at all with the units and though I am no sound engineer, they seem to do exactly what I want them to do, to keep the channel strips out of the red, and by playing around with the threshhold and trigger controls, I have a great kick drum sound! I am probably going to add a third one soon for another vocal mic (new singer), bass cab, and acoustic guitar DI. There seems to be alot of Behringer bashers out there, but I have had no problems with any of their products. We use a Behringer 24 channel mixer, 4 channel direct box, and a 10 channel mixer for recording, and have never had a problem with any of them. Wish I could say that for all of our equipment!
