This mixer was given to me by a friend as an upgrade from an unspeakable mess of a yolk. I have been using it for a few weeks now and have had no problems.
The build seems sturdy enough but I haven't given it much abuse. The beat assist function is useless unless you are playing music that is straight four to the floor with a bass beat that really stands out. The XPQ surround function is pretty useless as all it seems to do is brighten the sound and widen the stereo field a tiny bit. Better off not using it! Everything else seems to work great.
This mixer is great for the price but if you are willing to spend an extra $30 for a few extra handy features I would recommend the Behringer vmx300. It has an extra channel, treble, mid and bass killswitches and a better crossfader.
Buyer Beware

This thing does what it advertises: it mixes at a low cost. Great. I think that most people who are interested in audio of any kind (that's you!) have run into this persistent maxim: you get what you pay for. There is a reason why there is a big dollar gap between a Rane and this here Behringer. I didn't think about this when I bought this unit.
Let's start with cosmetics. It's hard to tell from the wacky perspective in the photo, but the front panel is sloped at a stupidly harsh angle. Apparently some lame designer at Behringer decided it would be ergonomic to point connectors such as mic and headphones at an angle. It is not. All it does is make it much easier to knock one of your connectors out with your hand while crossfading. Bad design.
The system for changing between line and and phono input types should be emblazened on this thing in bright red, permanently. I just hope no one decides to do what everyone has done at least once in their lives: toss the manual and assume "man make tool" mode. Just be careful.
Not much to say about the sliders except the fact that there is a substantial dead spot on either end (on all the faders). And yes, I have the crossfader curve set to the smoothest setting possible. Other than that, they are acceptable.
The knobs are pathetic. They feel like something on an easy bake oven, not a piece of professional audio equipment. It's embarassing. The same with the beat counter, which works really well assuming you want a mixer with a light that blinks furiously on an approximately "whenever it feels like it" schedule.
Make an investment and buy a Pioneer or a Rane instead.

The VMX-200 is a good mixer, especially for the price. It has many features of high end mixers, including kills, and a decent cuing system. All of the features work pretty well, except for the BPM counter. It cannot seem to calculate BPM except when there is a constant beat (such as with trance).Even then it still has some trouble. The BPM counter does not seem to work at all with rap. However, this is only a small issue because I do not use it anyway.
Behringer is thought of as a crappy company that makes crappy products with poor sound quality. When I first started using this mixer, I would have agreed. However, it seemed that it only needed a 'break-in' period. It now sounds much better after a couple months use. I have been using it now for over half a year, and everything still works like new.
Overall a good beginner mixer for the price. It is hard to find a mixer with all these features without spending a few hundred dollars. If you have more money to spend on a mixer, go ahead and you won't be dissapointed. If you're funds are limited, this is an excellent choice.
It's alright.
