Nice surprise

So I read all the reviews that compared it to the sm58 and thought "eff it" man. Its only a minimal loss if it doesnt pan out. Well let me say one thing.... WOW.

Before I used a 155 dollar elvis mic.... and this xm8500 gives me the ability to not use so much force singing. It projects VERY well. It picks up ALL sound very well. I feel the days of me losing my voice doing back up screams and backup harmonies is over. I was able to do our 18 song set twice in one day. As where before "with the other mic" I was wondering if I was going to be able to talk at work the next day. Before this was something I wondered half way through practice.

So the value of this mic really isnt the issue. Its how long its going to last. It does seem very solid. But for 20 or 30 bucks you really cant go wrong.

I still do not understand why people don't like Behringer. While some of their products may not be great, the price and quality are good enough reasons for me to buy them. For 30 bucks you might think this microphone wouldn't be all that great. You would be wrong. On drums I love it on bass drums, and toms, and occasionally a bottom snare head mic. It works great for close micing guitar and bass cabs, and gets pretty good sound on vocalists both live and in studio. Great overall mic and I will certainly buy more of these.

Got two of these mics that came with the harbinger behringer PA package, and i must say that i am very pleased with this mic. The sound is very clear and i love the way it feels in my hand while singing. You can't go wrong when buying this, especially if your on a budget. You know the old saying you get what you pay for.....well, you get more bang for your buck with this one!!!!!

I've used 58s for 30 years, and they are great mics, but at a third of the price, this Behringer is beyond a great deal. Bad sounding equipment makes me cringe, and I'm hypersensitive to tone, quality, sound, and tuning. In an A/B with a 58, this mic would be indentical except that it's a little hotter. And, of COURSE it doesn't have an on/off switch, no quality mic that I know of does - including the 58. Don't know about durability just yet, but I'll be sure to let you know if it dies anytime soon.
