Nice Mixer... Having Issues

I can't figure out why, but this little guy is generating MASSIVE amounts of heat off the bottom. It is an unpowered mixer, and it also contains no power supply onboard. I'm still waiting to hear back from Behringer on this issue. The EQ is very harsh on live mics. No matter what brand of mic I put in it, I am constantly having to roll off most of the highs, almost all of the mids, and boosting the heck out of the lows. Why they included a low cut switch on the mic channels, I'll never know. Still working with it though. I'd also agree with other reveiwers that a power switch would be nice.

1202 FX

After countless bar/party gigs, and several demo projects over the last 4 years, my 1204fx Pro started hissing at me, so I got one of these as a replacement. Since I'm only recording (into a PC sound card)nowadays, a smaller, quieter mixer from Musician's Friend seemed the way to go. It doesn't have the insert preamp/compressor/ultrabass/dynamizer effects in the top 30 numbers like the 04 has - bummer- but at least they are quiet and clean. The XENYX 1202fx is noticeably quieter, with more clean gain & headroom than the EuroRack series. For a tiny one or two person recording or live setup it's perfect. And MF got it here quick! I've had good results with Behringer products, considering the minimal investment.

Quite the bargain!

Some years ago I was in the radio biz but my life has taken a different path since then. I have since turned my sights to the world of podcasting but wanted to turn out a product that was of some quality which meant I wanted more control than just a mic plugged into my Mac. More specifically I wanted the ability to control multiple mics and possibly connect various other devices. I bought the Behringer Xenyx 1202FX on the recommendation of a salesperson and have had no issues with it at all! I have a pretty high quality mic and a good one but not quite the quality of the first one and both can be made to sound very good with this board! I also love the size and the price was very good too. I was also able connect various other devices which lends itself to more creativity. For what it is, you absolutely can't go wrong with this unit, but a couple of things that would be nice would be a power switch, a more detailed output display and either a USB or Firewire outputs (or mayben a USB or Firewire input or two...) Long on quality, short on price...can we really ask for anything more?

Good With A Few Flaws

I remember I was playing this one show over the summer and we were doing it outside and this guy that was managing the stage ran my amp and my buddies amp through this mixer. It sounded good and very controlled, For when one was doing rhythm he was able to quiet them so that the lead was able to be heard more. The only bad thing I remembered about it was while we were playing outside and I went to adjust my volume, the control was much too sensitive and jumped up the volume excessivly. Then it also started raining and messing with our equipment so all in all it was good.

What a great little mixer

This little mixer is unbelievable for the money. The mic preamps sound better to me than my Mackie and the Yamaha my band uses live. Good onboard FX. For routing, the 1204FX would be a better choice, but for a small group, live, this mixer and a couple of good powered speakers will give you a easy to set up, great sounding PA.
