I've had it for a few months but the preamps werent that much better than the pres on my MBox mini. So I was disappointed at first, trying to Eq my mic a little to get a better sound.. After sitting for a few months I realized that I can run through my different studio monitors through here and use it as a control station. The best move ever created. I have a pair of M-audio AV20's running through with a older pair of Maudio AV40's running through and a pair of cheap Altec Lansing running through this to get a better idea of how my mix sounds in various locations. Its the best thing since sliced cake.. Lol... Oh yeah the mixer is built pretty tough too.. So its a win win situation.

For The Price, Simply Unbeatable

I record songs weekly for my church band and singers, and this little board has saved me the enormous headache of wasted time and frustration. I record in my home studio (makeshift) and rarely use more than 2 inputs simultaneously (stereo instrument input + vocal). The output plugs directly into my computer's sound card, and I get excellent recordings. No hum, no distortion. The phantom power is essential for my studio mic, the guitars sound crisp and clear, the keyboards sound perfect, and the bass delivers killer thunder.

I'm not sure why others have complained about hum; I get that only when I have EVERYTHING maxed way beyond reason.

The one true negative: There simply could not be a more stupidly designed power input cord. Whoever DID design it should be fired. If you take this thing on the road, I would not wager the DC plug would make it more than 3 months. It's that absurd and fragile. I don't move the thing, so it has worked perfectly for me.

Handy Little Mixer

I've had my 802 for a few years now. I've used it here and there on the road, but now it sits at my desk mainly as a volume control for my monitors. And apparently it can't even handle that! The right channel of the control room output cuts in and out every now in then. Not a big deal, and I'm not surprised. The preamps hiss like crazy, same with my xenyx 1622FX. It hasn't been abused at all, not even a scratch. I notice no difference in sound between this and my older UB series mixers, which were built better in my opinion. All I can say is this: the smaller and less complex it is, the less that can go wrong with it. I own several small Behringer boards, and like them all. They're just not built for the road. But if you treat it with care, it will return the favor. I've had better luck with Behringer's compact mixers, and wouldn't hesitate to buy this again.

The 802 for Ham Radio audio

The Xenyx 802 combined with the MXL-990 microphone is absolutely the bomb for high fidelity audio on Ham Radio. The 802 seems to be RF proof and all the controls work just as they should. I would recommend this combination to anyone wanting a great sounding station. You cannot beat the sound for the money spent!

Nice little piece

I just bought this, being on a low budget, as I needed something to really brighten up my sound when recording. I have been running from the line-out jack on my AVT 20 Marshall straight into the sound card, and the sound has always been really dull. This little board really brightened up the sound for me.

As far as recording, it does take away some of the natural quality of the amp while recording in your DAW, at least on the overdrive (haven't tried clean). But, for the price, it couldn't be better. I will soon try it with a mic instead of running straight through the sound card and I'm quite sure it will sound much better. When not playing back recorded material, the sound is great straight out of the speakers - very low noise compared to straight in with my amp.
