Can't be beat for the price

I have to agree with most of the other reviews about the Baby Bottle. Like one of the other reviewers, I also run it through a UA LA-610 Channel Strip, and the sound is just warm and wonderful. I do use it sometimes on particular vocal tracks, depends on the singer, but for recording acoustic guitar, it can't be beat. I even use it to mic up my '65 Fender Princeton Reverb Amp, especially when going for a clean sound. For the money, you just can't go wrong with this offering from BLUE. A good channel strip or mic pre is a must. A cheap one will not do this mic justice and of course a good quality mic cable. I use the Blue Quad cables. I also own a Limited Edition BLUE Dragon Fly which I find is sometimes more suited to vocal tracks, but if you can only afford one good quality mic, this is the one.

Sweet Sweet Sounds

I aquired this microphone as a gift and it has enhanced my studio tenfold. guitars and vocals are so much cleaner and more crisp. The difference is just unbelievable. Tired of using 2 mics in an X formation, or using two mics on an acoustic period? This is the mic for you. I find that I get the best acoustic sound by placing the mic about 10" to 1' below the guitar. It can be slightly picky with the lows, and sometimes throws a fit. Its a delicate mic, but it sounds like $3000, for $500. Thats a steal...

I have owned the baby bottle for several years and could not be more pleased with it's overall performance, appearance, and durability. It's very accurate with only the slightest mid range bump, but this actually lends a ton of character, especially to male rock vocals. Boosts presence in female vocals as well. I usually run it through a UA 610 preamp, which is a great combo. Up front, warm, and airy. Fits wonderfully into the mix. Price tag makes it a great entry level general use condensor for recording vocals, etc.

This mic has got some balls. great warmth with clean highs. eq in a bit of presence where you need it and its a great vocal sound. it may not sound well in a bright rock mix but definatly great in most other styles. I really like to use it to thicken up female vox and some alto male vox. it was a tad boomy on the accoustic unless its just a solo-singer\songwriter-deal.
