OK mic; Shock mount is terrible

The Blue Bluebird Microphone is OK for the $. It has a similar quality as my Audio-technica condenser mic. However this Bluebird's SHOCK MOUNT never keeps the mic in position: you're about to do a vocal take and the mic slips out of position. Now the THUMB SCREW has broken off. I bought a 2 year extended warranty (I hope they make good on it and replace it with a new useable shock mount.)

I purchased this mic to replace my AKG Perception 200. The Bluebird is a much better microphone. The frequency response is perfect for vocals. The low impedance is a plus as well. Great value, you won't be disappointed!

Great Mic

This thing features excellent sound reproduction. Every little nuance is captured. Which could be a good or a bad thing. If you're going for a middle of the way organic-yet-clean sound, I would strongly recommend this mic. Especially after the price drop.

My only complaint would be the lack of a bass rolloff switch. Easy to work around though.

Works great on just about anything. Don't be afraid to put it to work.

Good mic, but be wary...

I had this mic for two months and used it for my band's demo with great results; on vocals, snare, and miking guitar cabs. However, one day the top part just fell right off. Luckily, the good people at Guitar Center replaced it without much ado, but within a week, the replacement just wasn't working at all! When I took it back, the manager said that a lot of people have been having problems with its reliability. Needless to say, I exchanged it for a Groove Tubes GT66 and I am in love with this new mic. Anyways, while the Bluebird is great and you'll definitely get great results, you might want to buy it from a local music store where you can return it easily in case it starts falling apart.

A Pure Mic

I just started testing the Bluebird mic attached to a Presonus Bluetube DP preamp. I compared it with my Sennheiser Evolution mic and was blown away by the difference. The Bluebird puts vocals onto tape making them sound exactly like the source without distorting the highs and making it sound colored. In fact the high frequencies sound beautifully reproduced with a nice shimmer. This mic also is beautiful to have in a studio. I highly recommend it if you are doing serious studio work. The price can't be beat for this quality of a mic. It is definitely worth it. I can't wait to see what this mic sounds like on a Grace Design 101 mic preamp.
