Wide, uniform sound coverage. |
The L1® Model II system delivers wide horizontal sound coverage and smooth tonal balance—across the stage and throughout the room. It includes Bose's smoothest, most consistent sound coverage with proprietary Bose® Spatial Dispersion loudspeaker technology which lets you enjoy balanced tone and consistent sound levels from the front of theroom to the back amd even off to the sides. It also comes with a stand that folds to be more portable, a B1 bass module, plus cables, power cord, and carrying bags for the various components.
Like the original award-winning Bose L1 system, the L1 Model II is an all-in-one innovation that replaces conventional monitors, mixers and PA speakers. It's packed with proprietary Bose technologies designed to improve your amplified sound.
The system's breakthrough Cylindrical Radiator loudspeaker produces wide, uniform sound coverage—onstage and throughout an audience of up to several hundred—with little drop off in volume and tone.
The Bose L1 Model II system features Articulated Array speaker technology for even greater tonal balance. The loudspeaker's 24 vertically mounted drivers are precisely angled to create clearer highs and more consistent tone in the room. Even people off to the sides enjoy well-balanced, detailed sound.
Deep bass from small enclosures
L1 Model II systems come with one B1 bass module to ensure more accurate amplification of lower notes for most voices and instruments—including guitars, keyboards and various horns. A double bass package is recommended for bass guitars, kick drums and DJs.
The B1 bass module is considerably lighter and smaller than conventional bass bins required for the same performance. Power up to two bass modules on a single power stand. Add two more bass modules to the system with an optional PackLite extended bass package.
Lighter and more compact
L1 Model II systems are Bose's lightest, most compact live amplification systems—with four retractable legs on the power stand for easy setup and breakdown. The power stand also has a simplified control section; the single line-level input can be used with instruments, mics, mixers, laptops, MP3 players or DVD systems.
These lighter systems are built to handle the road. The loudspeaker has a rugged, reinforced grille, and each package includes padded carrying bags for major components.
Powerful option: ToneMatch© audio engine
Add the optional T1 ToneMatch audio engine to quickly expand the system and fine tune your sound with powerful, proprietary tone-shaping tools.
The compact, multichannel engine provides fingertip control of the Bose library of ToneMatch presets. Just touch a button to make hundreds of precise refinements to the sound of instruments and microphones.
The engine also features a complete suite of studio-class reverbs, additional effects and dynamics processing. It connects to the L1 © Model II system via a single digital cable for quick, streamlined setup.
The Bose L1 Model II system includes these features:
Loudspeaker
Cylindrical Radiator and Articulated Array technologies — The loudspeaker's 24 drivers are arranged using Articulated Array technology in a slim, vertical enclosure—creating very wide horizontal coverage and consistent tonal balance. Musicians and audience members to the sides and throughout the venue hear fuller, more detailed sound with little dropoff in volume and tone.
Two-piece, interlocking design — For quick and easy transport, setup and breakdown of Cylindrical Radiator loudspeaker. Each section of loudspeaker is 43 1/2" (1.1 m) high. Unique, proprietary design includes interlocking bayonet and center and bottom latches.
Power Stand
Integrated power amplifiers — Provide clean, precise amplification for L1 Model II system with up to two B1 bass modules. Musicians can play soft or loud, with confidence the system will accurately amplify their performance.
Analog input, trim control and signal/clip LED - Line-level analog input accepts 1/4" TRS phone cable. Can be used for instruments or other audio sources like DJ mixers, MP3 players, computers or DVD systems. Trim control lets you adjust the level of analog input signal. Signal/clip LED indicates status of analog input signal.
Bass module out — Delivers amplified bass output signal to one or two B1 bass modules. L1 system automatically adjusts equalization appropriately when bass modules are connected.
ToneMatch port - Digital audio and power connection for ToneMatch© audio engine. Use with included ToneMatch cable.
Bass line out - Post-DSP bass signal output. Accepts 1/4" TRS phone cable. Use to connect the optional PackLite amplifier with up to two additional bass modules. Can also be used to connect powered subwoofer or additional amplification system.
Retractable legs - Provide stability for streamlined L1 Model II power stand and loudspeaker. Four retractable legs fold out of power stand simultaneously for quick setup and compact transport. Small footprint also frees up room on tight stages.
Bass Module
Compact, lightweight enclosure - Easy to transport, setup and breakdown. Small footprint takes up considerably less space than traditional bass cabs required for same performance. Fits between legs of power stand. Interlocking feet on the modules make it easy to securely stack up to four modules together on their sides.
Highly efficient speaker design — Two 5 1/4" (13.3 cm), high-output, high-excursion drivers produce deep strong bass from an elegant small enclosure. When connected to power stand, active equalization circuitry automatically adjusts bass signal appropriately. Rugged, twist-lock connector on bass module lets you link two modules together.

Bose l1 Model 2 with 2 Subs
Posted by Big Dog from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on Dec 1, 2009
Experience w/product: I have used it
Reviewer's Background: Weekend Warrior playing almost every weekend
Reviewer's Play Style: Metal. Rock, Classic rock
I play in 4 bands covering Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath Metallica, Godsmack, Alice In chains as well a tribute to the Guess Who BTO.
I've been trying 1 Bose system at rehearsals and have to say Im blown away. We had 3 vocals and bass playing through 1 sytem at half volume and never heard the vocals like I have through the Bose system.People who say this system is not suited for rock bands must not be using it properly.
I can only imagine what it sounds like using 2 or 3 of these.
Time to sell my Yorkville PA with subs , Mark Bass amp, Marshall stack and get me a couple of these.

Never anything else!

I am a touring pro, and I will never play through anything else again. We have played to as many as 300 with nothing but this, and it is always fantastic. When the venue is larger, we give a line out from the tone match and the house suplements the sound to taste (still our stage mix, though). True musicians thrive when they can actually be playing together and hearing one another. Add to that the fact that you hear what your audience hears, and you have a delightful performance experience. That inevitably translates to your audience. If you love communicating musically to your audience, this system will change the way you perceive the whole amplification setup.

Awesome

I bought this system with 2 bass modules and the tonematch mixer and it has surpassed almost all my expectations. the thing is spooky in it's coverage, everyone in the rooms where I play get exactly the same sound at nearly the same volume. No it's not for a loud rock band, no, it's not the greatest thing outside (but it still covers well), but if you have an acoustic duo or trio or a lower volume jazz/rock/blues gig this thing is just the ticket. So what it's a little pricey, it's light weight, packs small and sets up quick.
the 'scene' feature on the mixer really works well to preserve the setups in difficult rooms. this is the first device I've plugged my upright into that actually lets it sound like the acoustic upright bass it is. the effects are clean and easy to set.
the individual channel parametric EQ not only tells you the frequency of the cut/add, but the actual NOTE. this is perfect for dialing out the C note that my upright bass always feeds back on.
conventional PA systems sound like junk and are really hard to carry, set up and run compared to this bose system.

Possibly best small PA but Pricey

I thought long and hard on paying the high price for the L1 model 2 with tone match, but after coming away from a gig where I thought the band sounded good in the monitors only to find it didn't sound good on the camcorder tape we put with the audience I knew it was inevitable if we wanted people to hear how good we could sing. Just got the system today in time for a band practice, and with virtually no tweaking (using T1 presets for the mics we use) I can honestly say this is the best practice we've had over the past several months. Band is Drums, Bass, Electric Guitar. Put 3 mics in the Tone Match, and Guitar went from a Behringer amp modeler. Bass is thru a seperate Genz Benz Shuttle, no drum mics. One or two times during the 2hr practice we almost go feedback. I suspect this will not be a problem as I learn the system better. Initial thoughts on the quality of the sound is that it was almost too "crisp". Again, I think I can adjust for this as I learn how the Tone Match works better. I did really like how the vocals cut through the drums real easy. So far, pretty happy and can't wait to use it for a live gig. Pro's: sounds great, super easy to setup and haul con's: ~ Pricey, will take 30 gigs for me to break even.

DON'T BUY THE HYPE

Don’t buy into the hype. This system works fine if you’re a solo acoustic performer in an empty coffee shoppe. It will not fare well in a crowded room. In fact, it’s inaudible behind a packed dancefloor. It is also underpowered in a band environment, especially on outdoor gigs. These shortcomings aside, pray it doesn’t require the slightest bit of repair work. You’ll pay $250 plus shipping and be without your system for a month, even if it only needs a lousy volume pot! Bose had major problems with the Tonematch causing it to blackout mid-gig and even though they claim to have fixed it, they are STILL shipping defective units and leaving it to the consumer to discover and download the proper fix. I’ve had more trouble with these systems than any musical equipment I’ve ever owned COMBINED. An expensive lesson learned.
