Rear Left-facing Right-facing Powersupply, PSB-3U

The Boss BR-1200CD Digital Recording Studio may be the most comprehensive hard disk recorder you can get, but it's also easy to use. 2-track simultaneous record and 12-track simultaneous playback with 192 virtual tracks, plus professional I/O makes the BR-1200CD a versatile recording partner. It's packed with great COSM effects and amp models derived from BOSS's GT-6/6B multi-effects processors, plus a great-sounding bass and drum rhythm programmer for instant backing tracks. Just press the Audio CD Write/Play button to jump to the CD Burning menu and finalize your project. Pro touches include an icon-based user interface, XLR inputs with phantom power, and a USB port for audio export/import in WAV format.

Multi-effects and COSM models

The BR-1200CD is equipped with a powerful multi-effects processor derived from the famous BOSS GT-6/GT-6B. A lineup of COSM models include the world-standard Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus, R-FIier Vintage, Metal Stack, BOSS Compact Pedal models such as OD-1 and MT-2, and more. COSM Mic Models emulate expensive condenser mics. Correct pitch and add harmonies with the Vocal Tool Box, and for the finishing touch, tap into the Mastering Tool Kit to put a pro-quality polish on your tracks.

Backing band built in

Another distinguishing feature of the BR-1200CD is its world-class bass and drum programmer, packed with instruments and patterns to suit a variety of styles. Realistic acoustic drums and percussion are included, as well as many electronic sounds to compose modern hybrid types of music. For bass, you can choose from a variety of bass sounds, such as slapped basses, picked basses, and fretless basses. Jam along with the supplied patterns or create your own from scratch. The EZ Compose feature makes ultrarealistic custom programming a snap. There's also a selection of great loop phrases pre-installed on the internal hard drive.

Computer connection

The BR-1200CD has a USB port for simple, one-cable data exchange with your computer. You can export audio tracks to your computer in WAV format, and safely save backups of your song data. If you have WAV files you would like to use, you can import them to the BR-1200CD's tracks via USB as well.

Although I haven't had this machine long I love it. It is so simple to use and has great features. I purchased the DVD tutorial and it makes it easier to learn all of the "bells and whistles". I am looking forward to hearing what the finished product sounds like after the final mixdown and mastering. If you are wanting a great little home studio with lots of features for a reasonable price look no further.

Of all the things I have in my homestudio, from mics to guitars, from piano to drums this is the one that made the biggest impression on me, it is packed with so many features that even after 3 years there's stuff I never really got a chance to use, and the best - it sounds absolutely professional, when I say I don't use computers (only melodyne using exported br-1200 tracks) people think my recordings suck, but when they hear how pro this baby sounds hehe UNfortunately nothing is perfect, I'd say the vocal harmonies/correction and some of the built-in guitar effects are sub par, fortunately on the other hand my jcm and a digitech vocalist live supply me that; also I own a roland drum kit, so I don't get to need more than 2 tracks for recording, but if you need to record an entire band go with the br1600, same exact amazing thing with 8 tracks for live recording or drum recording

This little machine packs a very big punch. Its easy to use and the effects are awesome. Its portable so you can use it to record anything, anywhere, anytime. Many of the professional musicians use the BR900 to record their ideas while traveling. Highly recommended piece of equipment!!

One Sweet Machine!

I have had this for about 3 months. I have written and recorded more songs in the past 3 months than I used to do in 3 years! It is so easy to use, once you figure it out, that you get to spend MUCH more time creating and a lot less time trying to make all the different peices of equipment work together.

The beauty of it is everything you need is in one box, No need for patch cables, racks of effects, a drum machine etc etc. No problems with equipment not being compatible. ANd my recordings sound better than they ever did before. I love this thing!

You might want to get the Tutorial DVD to help you get started. I got the DVD and it was worth the money.

Recording for Dummies

I bought this unit as a replacement for my Zoom MRS 1044. I wanted a "self-contained" unit that also burned CDR/RWs. I am a professional musician on the side, and I was going into the studio to do my next CD - until I found this unit! The first night I was recording and it was easy! This unit is practically idiot-proof. While the manual is 1/2" thick, it is well-laid out and easy to understand. I just don't like to read manuals. lol

I wanted the Boss 16-track, but I have to say I know I will be quite happy with my purchase of the 12-track. The price fit, and the quality of sound I am getting so far is awesome - and I would consider myself an "amateur recorder", meaning I don't know as much as some about home recording (it's not my forte.)

Unit's got a 40-gig hard drive, for your reference, and a LOT of types of inputs, so you don't have to go buy those extra cables for it. It has a USB dump on back for your computer if you choose to use it.

Only issue I've found is that it's going to take some doing to figure out how to use my Digitech Vocalist 4, to get the results I want (the guitar parts come out funky unless you record them separately from vocals.)

All in all, you'll be very pleased if you buy this item. I look fwd to seeing what all it can do!
