Well I've owned this recorder for 2 years now and still dont know how to use all the functions, I went to buy a 1 gb flashcard and no one seems to carry them anymore (Thats why I say out dated). I have a 1 gb card that came with it but after getting 4 tracks down, or trying to record in stero, an error message appears, DRIVE BUSY , meaning too many tracks are playing at once. And thats with the 2.1 download. Very frustrating

It really sucks that the memory card only takes up so much data, and you cannot buy upgrades anywhere, that work. A lot of money to waste on a system that does not work, and you have to read and re-read to get thru the process. Customer service sucks, and product techs do not give a hoot either. Just say no, buy something else or go to the studio.

I have own my studio for about 1 year and im very satisfied with it. To call this crap is just lack of understanding on how to manage a studio or bad research before u find out what u really look for.

First its very solid and actually easy to operate.

With so many built in effects it takes TIME to learn how they will effect your material.

I think the built in guitar sounds are good with many options for how to manage them.

I never have any problems with it, its extremely safe to use (if you know how to deal with it).

The only minus and that is a big one, is that you only can use 1GB flash card on it and now in 2009 its tough to find them in the stores.

How did they think?? Couldn't Boss predict that this cards will be old and new bigger ones would be the thing. At least it should be able to run a 4GB card.

U can dump ur stuff to a computer through USB or burn it on a RW CD but it would be smoother if it would manage bigger Flash Cards.

Then some advice.. Get good monitors to work with, flat ones that doesnt colour the sound too much. Then check out the room ur sitting in and see if u can make that more suitable for music production.

Boss BR 900 CD is worth every penny and If u really make sure u understand the machine you will have a lot of joy with it.

This thing is extremely useful for anyone who doesn't want to spend thousands of dollars in the studio. The ability to mix is huge, and the effects are pretty solid as well. Be ready to look in the instruction manual a good bit, but overall a good buy for anyone looking to make a demo.

This is my second BR- Digital Recorder

I owned a BR-8 and was very happy with the guitar effects. Using many instruments to record I was very satisfied with the recording quality. The drawback was memory. Tascam CC-222 was the perfect match to burn both CDs & cassettes. Then in 2005 I bought a BR900CD...I do not like the shift in quality. I really must commend the BR-8 but the BR900CD is lacking guitar sound on what should be the same effect and sound. The drums can be recorded live into a tape deck adding fills etc. The worst feature is the one that sold me on it...The CD player/burnner is totally not compatible with anything other than a few or (2) CDs...so all the other CDs I could of finished will now have to wait.
