The CAD C195 is a superior low-noise, electret condenser cardioid microphone designed for professional vocalists and musicians. It provides the performance and features to satisfy today's most demanding professionals.

The C195 mic has a wide, flat-frequency response that provides unsurpassed natural transparent sound. The cardioid pickup pattern minimizes annoying feedback and reduces the pickup of unwanted off-axis sounds. A transformerless electronic design provides optimum low-frequency response and low distortion. An effective internal multistage pop filter minimizes wind and breath noise.

The CAD C195 has a Flex-Form hardened steel grille screen that dramatically resists deformation while greatly reducing any risk of adverse performance caused by a bent or dented ball screen. This unique ability to retain its original shape assures that the CAD C195 will maintain its attractive appearance.

The C195 features the CAD exclusive (I.N.R.-3) Impact Noise Rejection system. A proprietary rubber shock mount isolates the transducer from the barrel, thus dramatically reducing cable, stand, and handling noise. The need for any external shock mounting device is virtually eliminated.

The low-frequency response of the CAD C195 may be enhanced by increasing or decreasing the distance from the sound source. This phenomenon is technically known as "proximity effect". Nominal or "flat" response is generated at a distance of 24 inches or more. However, as the distance to the sound source decreases, the bass sensitivity increases, providing a solid, robust character. Requires phantom power.

I was looking for a budget condenser and the local pro audio store had just brought this in. First impressions, the mic looks rugged and has a good weight to it. Among the low budget condensers I think the CAD C195 is a winner. The mic is surprisingly hot but I like that. In terms of quality I gave it a 4.5 because the included mic cable has pin 1 jumpered to the tab(shell) of the xlr connector. And we all know that's hum waiting to happen.

Versatile Condenser For The Money

The C-195 has been in my microphone collection for about a year. It hasn't seen much use when I first purchased it as a cost alternative for a Sure Beta 58. I became frustrated with some of the mics I had been using in my budget home studio and decided that I would try this mic on some acoustic tracks in the studio. I was amazed at the quietness of this mic, and its ability to clearly and accuratly pick up the guitar with minimal EQ, and not the room. As a further test, I brought it into the control room and recorded some scratch vocal tracks amongst the ambient white noise generated by my recording gear. I got perfectly quiet tracks and ended up using most of the "scratch" tracks in our latest production! I have not used this mic live yet, but I'm sure that with a little tweaking on the compressor/Limiter, It would perform awesome. This is a great value. I have been using Cad Dynamic vocal mics live for a number of years and recommend their products without any reservation!

Great mic for the price!

Blows away other handheld condensers in this price range and outperforms a few pricier mics. VERY low handling noise. I've got two of these and have not experienced any noise issues either in live or studio settings. It IS a pretty hot mic and requires expert EQ'ing for live use. Great for overhead with drums, decent for vocals especially when the singer is quiet and expressive, versus a powerhouse blaster. Decent (though not ideal) acoustic instrument mic. Not a bad little recording mic; definitely worth keeping a couple of these handy!

i used this mic a while back thinking it would add clarity to help my voice cut through in live music settings. We have quite a few acoustic instruments and the mic just caused too many feedback problems. great mic. it needs a switch. durable. clear reproduction of vocals, but for my situation, it was just too hot.

I've owned this mic for about a year, and it works great with my digital recording setup. I don't have a ton of background in recording, but I do know that this mic faithfully reproduces my acoustic guitar, vocals, drums, and even guitar cab. I know, there may be better mics out there for a lot of those applications, but for the price this mic is totally unbeatable. Only wish there could be some pattern switching. I will stick with the CAD company- awesome combination of functionality and value.
