Okay for the price but try to get something better

I picked up a couple of these to pick up ambient room noise from a room during a broadcast, figuring that people milling around didn't really require a whole lot of clarity and these were very cheap so I bought a pair. The sound is excellent, BUT, these are incredibly sensitive to AC and Rf interference. I think that probably part of the low cost comes from inadequate shielding. I ended up buying Rf filters from Shure so that these would be usuable, but the AC hum is still there (after an power filter) but its low enough so that it doesn't interfere too much. All in all it cost more with the Rf filters and stuff than buying the Audio Technica Pro 45 mics that they sell here that I have used at other locations and seem to be better made. Of, course go for the Shure choir mics if cost is no object, they're half the size, twice the output, and about four times the cost, but to me its worth every penny. But, if this is all you can afford, I have a hard time being critical of a mic that costs around 50 dollars new. You get what you pay for, nothing more, nothing less.

I installed 4 of these for my choir. They replaced 4 stand mounted condenser mics. I was surprised to find them twice as loud. Great condenser tone. I'll be getting more of them...

My Ska band was interested in buying some mics to clip on the horns. Not having much money, we bought a pair of these babies and rigged little clips on them. They work great, the sound is amazing. These mics easily capture the full sound of our Trombone and Sax. The only problem I have is that the mics easily pick up vibrations like pushing sax keys down. The gooseneck could be a little stronger, but we're not exactly using them the "correct way". Overall, they leave you with a lot of room to use your imagination.
