I run a recording studio as a business and I bought these things right out of the gate when my budget was not too large. Now about a year in and some money to work with i see no need to replace them. Good solid sounding mics! Throw a little compression on them and it's all i could ask for!
All around good deal!

Even for these being my first drum mics and my first serious time recording on my own. I have not gotten any "airy" or "open" sounds from these. You cant expect to achieve good sounding recording if you are recording in a room that has not been sound proofed even just a little bit. no matter how small the room you are going to get that echo with no sound proofing even if its blankets etc etc. we recorded 3 drum tracks with these the other day and im honestly impressed with the sound for the price. and i know that with a tad bit more tweaking on my mixer i could make these things sound like more expensive mics. my best advice is to Experiment!!!!!!

I record my bands practice every day to try to get a workable sound to record with. I have had these mics for over a year and I still have yet to find a quality drum tone from them. I use a Samson 910 mixer and the microphone response is just poor. The sound is either very hollow and flat... or the mics just overload. I have tried every placement you can think of. I have tried using the reverb and compressor from my mixer but it still sounds bad. Yes, you get 4 mics for around 80 bucks... but if they can't provide any quality whatsoever, they are still a waste of money. Save up and get yourself a much better set of mics.

drum mic + drummer whose a jerk = broken mics

I'm warning you guys if you buy this kit then you have to be careful who handles your microphones. I've owned since January of this year. Used then for several recording sessions and three live sound situations. By July the tom and kick got broken. The tom mic got broken by a drummer that I worked with at a local show and thought it was ok for him to handle my mics (which I'm fine with if you're careful) but I saw he deliberately dropped the tom from the 3 foot high drum riser to the main portion of the stage. Now I'm ticked off and have a broken tom mic. The story with the kicker I loaned it out to a drummer buddy and somehow its broken. The moral to this story is to be careful with who handles your equipment.
Features: I felt when using this kit is that the mix is difficult. It sounds distant even if the mic is up against the drum. The kicker clip that holds on the stand is cheap and sometimes produces feed back if in small spaces.

Alrighty.. So I got these mics a little over a month ago. I got these with a Behringer mixer, to make some drum covers, but ultimately start a home studio, mainly for my band. The first time I used these, I literally slapped them onto the drums (NOT adjusting the placement), hooked up my mic cables and clicked record. PHENOMENAL.. They sounded quite amazing.. Also my drums do NOT glorify these AT ALL.. I have a CB drumkit.. Look it up, you will not find them.. Haha.. And people are saying the sound "distant".. No. Just no. I haven't gotten sense of any "distancy" at all.. None..Anyways, they are great, the bass mic is beautiful. Very nice low end.. The other mics just truly, make my kit sound amazing.. This is a MUST buy. This mic kit could complete you're home studio... Thats one HECK of a deal...
