This Elan is extremely effective and sure does brighten up the party. Being able to change the way it spins and the colors does a lot of good. It definitely brings a good vibe and feel to the party and will help the show of both bands and or dj's. My onl negative thought is that it may be a bit over priced. But it does do quite a job for the crowd.

Depending on how you run your lights, you'll either love or hate the Elan. If you have a simple AC switch system for turning your lights on/off individually, this is a great light. Bright, colorful, low power draw and sound-active motion like an ADJ Avenger. However, if you run a DMX-controlled system like me, these lights will be disappointing. Chauvet missed the mark by limiting DMX control to LED color on/off and blackout/strobe. Automatic color-changing isn't available via DMX, nor is the speed of rotation. They wasted the assignment of 4 DMX channels to red on/off, green on/off, blue on/off and strobe speed...all of which they could have done with 2 channels. In my opinion, Chauvet should've taken the one extra baby-step forward and equipped the Elan with full DMX control over color choice (including automatic), color-change speed (including sound-active), strobe, and motor speed (including sound-active). As it is, I'll have to use the Elan with my old DMX dimmer pack to get the best use out of it...definitely not what I expected for one of Chauvet's newest LED light fixtures.
