I used these pzm mics to mic a baby grand piano. They worked great for a year, then broke two months later. (The warranty period is one year only.) I have since bought two more, which again broke after a year! I contacted Crown, and they would fix them or replace them, at MY cost of course. If you don't mind having to buy them yearly, it might be a good deal. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

I use this mic for a small theater as a light/sound booth monitor. The stage is very deep and the coverage needs to be pretty wide. I was apprehensive about buying such an inexpensive mic for such a large area of coverage but was pleased and surprised once I hooked it up. I heard sound that our former mic(a hand-held dynamic mic) never pick-up. The light and sound board operators were so glad they could finally hear ALL the actors during the whole performance. It has a very low profile and is virtually invisible to the audience.

I bought 2 of these to use @ church for live recording and studio use. There's No Way these were coming in my studio! I wouldn't even use these to record the out going message on my answering mach. For one very good reason, my answering mach. has a better mic built in! They sounded like a tin can on a string. The signal was very low as well. I had to push the gain all the way. My recomend saving your money and buying a more expensive pzm (boundry) mic.

Super entry level boundry mic

To those who've never used boundry mics particularly for live recording, these are astounding. I've done A-B tests with these and other Crown boundary mics against conventional mics, and there's no contest. They're far and away the most natural sounding, have more gain, less noise, and are a huge technical advance in live and recorded sound. They collect a combination of direct and reflected sound, (something like the opposite of Bose speakers) and sound very, very natural. They look unusual for microphones, and I've taped them back to back as suggested for stereo and put them on a boom stand and gotten some incredible live recordings. So simple to use. Unbeatable. The future of microphone technology. Hats off to Crown for making something this good affordable to most people. Their best ones have been state of the art on Broadway for years.
