Not what I hoped for .

I bought a pair of these hoping for an inexpensive way to record Band Rehearsals and possibly gigs, for reviewing etc. At rehearsal I placed them on the floor about center of the room and twenty feet apart. They picked up the instruments but didn t sound that great, and they didn t pick up the vocals. I might try one in a mic stand facing the PA,but if you ve already got some mics,(even cheap ones) save your money. One good shure 57 or 58 would out do these mics, and be cheaper for these purposes. For conferences,I m sure they d be fine etc.

Recording drums

My son and I have a small studio. I play guitar and he plays drums. I have a Zoom MRS-8 digital recorder and we use it to lay down some tracks. The recorder has a built in mic, but when we recorded his acoustic drums, the sound was terrible, almost hollow, especially the cymbals. I asked around and was told that I needed to use expensive condenser mics to make his drums sound right. I checked on line and decided to try the Sound GrabberII PZM condenser mics. I ordered the pair and when they came in, we plugged them in to the recorder and we were amazed at the sound. I left the paddles off and just put them on the floor in front of his drums. We recorded his drum track and I overdub the guitar. The finished track sounds great!! I am just a hobbyist and we record for fun, but I feel that I made a great purchase in these mics, and would highly recomend them to anyone recording acoustic drums.

I bought them as an inexpensive way to record a client who is a tap dancer. He brought his own board and after experimenting found a good sound to work with. They were a little bright but could be tamed with a smidge of EQ.. They do have a clean sound relatively low noise but I wish they had an xlr or trs cable and not the 1/4".

I use these to record our band rehearsals in a basement studio. For two mics set up in the middle of the room, they do a fantastic job picking up all the instruments. Usually, with a little EQ tweaking they make some fine sounding "bootleg" recordings.
