I needed a new Dj amp for my 3 way main cabs. First I hooked up the XLS 402D By itself and was dissapointed. Little headroom, and it was bearly moving the speakers w/ clipping. However when chained to my dbx crossoverover, Alissis compressor/limiter, and a ART equilizer w/ the gain up a little I had a brand new amp. Lots more headroom, minimal clipping, and pumping quite nicely. Even though I'm only puting 300w into much larger cabs. The amp stayd verry cool even after 7 hours in the sometimes direct sun. I am probably going to move up to a 602 or 802 for bigger jobs. The main con is it's a huge heavy amp. on top of my smaller, lighter 2000w sub amp it makes it hard to reach the sub jacks. I hope this helps would be buyers.

300 watts may not seem like a lot, but when the 402 drives my Yamaha S115V speakers as mains, my rock band more than fills small-medium venues with clear sound. Even used it outside for sporting event announcing, and it's worked great! I'm upgrading to a bigger amp to be able to play larger venues, but I'm keeping the 402 to drive my monitors. Highly recommended!

This amp has a nice clean sound. We used this amp to to replace a Mackie amp that I loved dearly (who knows what happened as all this is at a church) Even though it sounds good, it does not get near as loud as the Mackie used to. We are useing it to power two EV SX300s (which are awesome by the way). The amp doesnt clip or anything it just doesnt have near as much headroom. If you are looking for nice clean sound around this wattage range, then buy this amp. If its loud and clear you want I would still go with the Mackie amps.

Just switched to this for my bass rig. I run my bass into a Bass PodXT Live and crossover it into the XLS402. From there I run the lows into a 1x15 and the highs into a 4x10. The set up gives me loads of punch and brightness and is plenty loud. I would definitely recommend this unit.
