Eh...it's okay.

I'm not too impressed with this amp. I bought this a few years ago, and I was blown away by the sound of it, but that's because I came from Nady's. Last summer, I bought some QSC's, and they demolish this in comparison. I've had the Crown fail on me running somewhat loud, but I had my QSC running full blown power for 5 hours straight and it didn't come close to crapping out. The Crown sucks up way too much power, and doesn't have much headroom. For a little more, you can get a QSC RMX2450, which has more power, is way more reliable, and has cool built in features like switchable high pass filters, limiters, etc. Not to mention, you'd get QSC's 6 year warranty.

I love this thing. It's never overheated (and I run it at about 2.6 ohms per channel). However, I've never ran marathon gigs outside in the heat with it either, and I take care of my equipment. It's simple, and I got a good deal on it, so if you can do the same, I would say buy this product.

I matched a pair of these up with a dbx RackPA Pro pushing a pair of Yamaha A15 (mains) and JBL MRX518S (subs). It works great for medium size venues and also one heck of a home stereo!

My purchase of ONE Crown XLS-802D started a PA system for our live variety music that has a full,fat,killer sound. Using the XLS802D for two Yamaha S115V'S and two Yamaha A15'S for mains at 4 ohms, we then purchased a Mackie DFX12 sound board to run the setup. I then purchased a used Crown PB-3 to run two JBL JRX-118 subs with a Behringer Super X Pro crossover and then a used Crown PB-2 for our two Yamaha S112V monitors and two small peavey monitors at 4 ohms. With the gain properly set on the sound board we have ample headroom on the XLS-802D and has been consistently quiet with no heating problems at all every weekend and is probably the best investment I have made so far.

I bought two of the xls802's to match up with Peavey pr15 subs and pr15 speakers. that extra head room comes in handy when running full out and then when low volume is needed . I like having the amp set on full out and use the BBE maximizer to sort out the lows. These amps stay cool and steady all day long even when playing my GremUSA guitar thru this system.
