I got one of these boxes for one reason only. To put on my resume that I am pro tools experienced. In my opinion, Digidesign is the worst of the bunch. Cubase is quickest and easiest. Logic Pro is much more advanced. Digital Performer is my favorite, which I switched to when Digidesign decided to create Pro Tools out of Sound Designer, leaving the real pros scratching their heads, and Sonoma is coming up quickly. This box is not worth the bills you pay, the pre's are cheap, inputs are sparce, and the sample rate is low. Enough said.

I purchased this for my home studio, knowing that pro tools is supposedly the best. I've been using it for several months, and I like it pretty well. However, I have had some problems with it every once in a while, probably because I'm using it on a windows xp platform. Sometimes I experience random intervals of uncontrollable, high pitched noise, that will come on randomly and also go away randomly. So far from my experience, this package has flaws when used with windows, but it is, by no means a bad product. This was my first experience with a recording interface. Since using this, I have gone back to Ableton Live 6, and I purchased a presonus firepod, and I am much happier with the performance of my current setup, with live, than I was with Pro Tools. If you have a mac system, you may not have the same problems as I have, and if these problems can be avoided, it's a great product.

This recording software Pro tools LE 7 and MBox 2 interface are fantastic! It is very impressive how clear and great sounding my recordings are. And very easy once you know how to record. It is true there is alot to learn but to get started it really is not that complicated.
1. Go to the digidesign website and see if your computer laptop or desktop is compatible. no time at all. I am using a desktop Pentium 4 with a gig of ram. Win XP service pack 2 recommended but service pack 1 works.
2. Follow the setup guide exactly as it says to set up, don't put it aside thinking you can set it up on your own, ther are a few steps to follow but if you do them as I did you should have no problem. I was up and running in no time.
3. loading the software, registering and loading the plug-ins and registering them will take several hours but hey Rome wasn't built in a day. This is your recording studio you're putting together, it is worth the time.
This factory bundle is worth it because you get the ilok usb key and great plug-ins.
4. There is a free upgrade to Pro Tools LE 7.3 and then also download the Pro Tools patch LE 7.3.1 from the Digidesign website. If you do it you will have the latest software free and it has alot of new features.
Overall I am excited to be getting to know ProTools and don't let anybody fool you with the negativity ,it is really advanced, you'll love it if your open minded. There is a reason why Pro Tools has become the industry standard and it is because of the quality and ease or recording. If it really sucked as some say it would not be as popular as it is.
I love it ! The dvd Method One is included and is full of great stuff. It sells seperately but you get it in this bundle. If you always wanted a great recording studio for a reasonable price this is it!

I love this system. My father introduced this to me so being familiar with the software and recording I decided to buy it. I am not disappointed at all. At 15, I know I am not the best producer but honestly with the software you can produce music that sounds just like professional hardware. A must buy.

I love the Digidesign pro equipment. Let's face it a ton of pros use it and it works and sounds great. The new mid-range series is just that mid-range. I found that the Lxicon Lambda is cleaner sounding, easier to load on a computer and costs half as much. The digidesign carries alot of weight but here in the comeptitive mid-price range there are a lot of competitors who do it very well.
