I've owned mines for about 7 months. When I first bought it, it wasnt compatiable with my laptop so I had to buy another cpu. It wasnt hard to get up and running and I've owned a previous M-Powered protools setup. The preamps in the M-box itself kinda suck in my opinion. My M-Audio Mobile pre that records AT 16BIT sounded better without a preamp in my opinion.. Know the goodness of this box is that it ships with protools le. Everything sounds better in protools in my opinion. I have a AT2020 running into a Presonus preamp ran into my Mbox mini. I also have the sound output of the mini running into my mixer. With a little mixing and compression I can say that I am proud of my Budget studio sound. Not to mention that I use Ozone to sort of master my finish product. I'm working on my fourth album and I must say that this is probably the best product i have done so far...

After installation issues (with a 32 bit Vista Ultimate laptop) were resolved by downloading the program from digidesign (apparently I had a bum CD)the program ran terribly. The demo tune sputtered and stalled!
So after digging in the digidesign user group I discover they recommend not running it on the system drive but on a seperate hard drive!! Not a USB hard drive (God Forbid) but a firewire or SCSI approved drive. THIS IS NOWHERE IN THE SPECS!! Not on Musicians Friend, nor on the digi website, nor in the manual.
Thank God Digi let me return it. BUT WHY ARE THESE SPECS NOT PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED? Am I the only newbie at Pro Tools that didnt know about this?

As a Recording Engineer who is half way through college for recording, I bought this because i was starting out and had little money. It is a good purchase for starting out and for mixing. The lack of features (limited ins/outs/mic pres) is what brings it down. It will get you through the day and is a great tool while learning but for expansion, you cant do much. I have found ways to make it work but if you have the money, save it for a Digi 002 or 003.

I have been very pleased with this product. I was up and running very quickly. The installation went very and the hardware works great. The only issues I have had are related to my inexperience.
However, I will say the way Digidesign's product support is a little disapointing. I understand the tech industry and how they love to pinch pennies out of everything, and Digidesign is no different it seems.
Other than that I am pleased and will probably upgrade soon.

I bought the Mbox mini a few months ago and I can say that It works very good! The only bad thing is that it doesn't have Midi! But well! Is great for begginers or for people that want to record with protools without Spending much money! I own a new macbook and it works just great with protools!
