Score Your Music
The Score Editor lets you view, edit, arrange, and print MIDI data as music notation. Whether you want to compose music using the notation tools or transcribe MIDI data into notation, the Score Editor features everything you need and nothing you don't. Write parts on a single staff or grand staff. Place and edit notes, and edit the meter and key signature at whim. Add chord symbols and chord diagrams to sessions. Transcribe MIDI parts in real time. Print out a score in its entirety or print only certain instrumental parts. You can even export sessions as Sibelius (.sib) files for further finessing in Sibelius.

Pro Tools 8 features a comprehensive array of new MIDI tools. Gain extensive MIDI editing power through MIDI Editor windows, which can display MIDI and automation data for Instrument, MIDI, and Auxiliary Input tracks. Transpose with Elastic Pitch
As a complement to Pro Tools software's powerful Elastic Time tempo and time manipulating tool, Pro Tools 8 introduces Elastic Pitch, which allows you to effortlessly manipulate or correct the pitch of any audio region in real time. Easily transpose an entire audio region—up or down up to four octaves—without affecting its timing or tempo. Fix a less than perfect vocal performance by altering the pitch of individual notes. Or create cool sound effects by linking pitch changes with time compression/expansion using the Varispeed algorithm.
Comp Tracks to Perfection
Creating flawless performances is easier than ever. Pro Tools 8 features new track compositing workflows, enabling you to quickly and easily piece together the best possible version of a performance from multiple recording passes. Simply loop record multiple takes on an Audio track, view and audition the takes in Playlist view, select the best parts from the track's alternate playlists, and copy them to the main playlist with a single click. I bought the Pro Tools upgrade a few weeks ago and I am well pleased. The graphical interface is a real treat to look at. Digidesign added more key features like 48 track recording right out of the box. A mega track expansion with complete tools kit up to 128 tracks plus 7.1 surround sound capability. The mp3 feature is now comes standard with the program. The mixer has a more realistic look with pan knobs instead of slider and it allow for more insert plug-ins on each track. Pro Tools 8 session are fully backwards compatible with project session recorded with version 7.1. Despite the major visual upgrade version 8 still maintain the feel of version 7.1. So, the learning curve in not to difficult to learn. Another key feature is the ability to compose musical notation in Pro Tools 8. My only complaint is that the features available with the complete tool kit should come standard with Pro Tools 8 without having to fork out $2,000 in additional cost. Most digital audio and midi sequencing software comes with unlimited amount of track recording. All and all the price of the Pro Tools upgrade is fairly inexpensive compared to other music recording software brands.

I have been using the Pro Tools 8 LE with both my digi rack and mbox 2 Pro. It is by for one the most easiest version ever!! The new graphical design is very appealing to view. It is backwards compatible with 7.4 music session. The layout mixer screen has been expanded to allow more plugins and Digidesign has did away with the panning slider. Instead, they've implemented rotary know based off a real mixer style. Digidesign has also, added new software synths and several gigs of loops. You can't beat these new feature with two sticks!! Get the upgrade because it is worth every penny!
