first of all, pro tools is a very complex program, not for those of you that dont want to spend a lot of time learning to record. however, you can get some decent sounding recordings by just jumping in.

The ignition pack includes alot of very useful programs and plugins, most of them are "demo style" with limited functionality, though.

mine did not ship with LE 8. digidesign will give you a free upgrade from 7.4 when you register, however it is a very large DL (3.2G)

the alesis monitors sound good, and the mic is pretty decent for vocals

This package is sooo much fun! I'm completely a beginner in the recording world, and Pro-Tools is a little intense at first, but there's a DVD provided that helps you get a quick start, and I'm loving it! If you love writing music and recording, give this a try. The mic is good, the monitors can really blow you away, and of course Pro-Tools, enough said. Hope to hear you on the radio!

This a great package! Some basic knowledge of recording equipment is necessary. With an iMac this is undeniably the best value. When using the mic it is imparitive to remember to use Phantom 48v to power the condenser element. great package, good Value.

ProTools regardless is a recording system that needs to be studied to use properly. PT is an industry standard system. take your time and you will be amazed at the boundries you can cross. I have used the FUll ProTools, 002,003 and the M box and it just takes time and as with any software / hardware there is a learning curve so be prepared for it and there is a variety of books on it out there.
