I Think They're Great Tom Mics

I bought this pack 2 1/2 years ago, and they're fabulous for the price. Agreed about the clips though, I use d-vice clamps , and they are fairly good. As far as configurations, I use an SM57 on the snare, the 3 DR tom mics for toms, and as someone else noted, the kick mic is good for floor tom, but you may want a d112 for kick. Anyways, if I could only say 1 thing about these mics "replace the clips with something decent (and make sure their tightened as to prevent low rumbles), and you've got nice mics for achieving that great drum sound...

I'm not going to say that these mics are the worst I've ever used, but they're definitely not the best. They sound good live and fairly well in recording. I havent broken a mic clip yet but I'm waiting, they seem flimsy. Tom mics are good for toms, but not wonderful for snare, kind of muddy. BUT! for the price of these babies there something that any amateur engineer could use. They were my first ones but I have moved up to 57's and an audix d6 on kick and sennheiser tom mics. Overall, great cheap mics.

These mics are durable and sound great. But I have BROKEN 7 of the mic clips! They arecheap and WILL NOT last. I have been playing 32 years and my kit has only been moved 4 times since I bought them. You can be as gentle as you want... the clips are going to break!

These mics are ok for just getting your feet wet. However I'd spen the same $$ and get Nady they have a much better frequency response. I had these mics for about 5 weeks then the cheap clips they came with started busting left and right just randomly. Save up for better mics, or get nady make sure to do some research!!!
