Great with vintage lo fi mixer preamps

I'm recording my friends band and when my friend whipped these out I almost laughed like "come on man..." I soon ate my words. It might be the vintage board pre's but these things sound phenomenal. Here's the setup: These mics are on all the designated drums except the snare, thats a SM57, running through a Mackie DFX-12 Mixer for the phantom power, and then from the inserts in the board to an old Peavey PM8 mixer with gorgeous vintage sounding pre's. The condensers are run through the Mackie only and then the rest of the mics go directly to the PM-8. Were going for the old vintage pre sound. I don't know what these sound like run through a higher quality pre or a contemporary mixer on the shelf.

I bought three of this because I have a big drum set about six months ago, and I love them. But yeah the clamps are horrible, the first day I bought them I tried to install and one of the clamps broke. But the quality is AMAZING, the only thing I recomend is to get a better kick drum mic, or a mic pre amp, because it doesn't have that nice punch, but it still sound really good. I use two of the kick drum mics on my 14" and 16" floor toms, and they sound so nice. The overheads also sound incredible. I bought this thinking I was buying an ok product for starters, but I soon found out that it was very worth it, and I give it a 5 out 5.

I bought these a little over a year ago and i haven't had any problems with the mics or the clips. Alot of ther reviews I read said their clips broke. Mine are still going strong. The mics sound pretty good but with some EQ adjustmens, they sound really good. I'm satisfied.

These mics are durable and sound great. But I have BROKEN 7 of the mic clips! They arecheap and WILL NOT last. I have been playing 32 years and my kit has only been moved 4 times since I bought them. You can be as gentle as you want... the clips are going to break!

Went and bought them at my local music store last weekend. These mics are great for low budget recordings. I don't know anything about eq's or anything and they sound great. Cymbals sound good too. I have the mics in my "studio" and the clips are plastic and I can see them breaking on tour but if you keep them on they won't break if they're on right.
