E-Mu took their renowned 0404 PCI interface and put it into a USB 2.0 compatible audio and MIDI computer interface. The combination of premium 24-bit/192kHz digital audio converters, musical XTC mic/line/hi-Z preamps, and ultra low jitter clock deliver an extremely clean sounding and stable computer recording system.

The E-Mu 0404 interface offers true cross-platform support for Windows XP (standard or 64-bit) and Mac OS X, as well as compatibility with most popular audio recording and sequencer applications. The low-noise, Class-A XTC preamplifiers provide 48V phantom power and ground lift switches enabling you to plug microphones, keyboards, and guitars straight into the 0404. Great little thing

If you're a member of head-fi forum you will see many forumers recommend this for its qulaity as a headphone amp. It IS a good headphone amp, and as a Analog to digital converter it's pretty good. Definitely not bad but not the best either. But then again considering the price the quality is really good.

I use Vista and with the driver I downloaded off creative's website I have no problem so far. Oh I read somewhere when you install a new firmware (within the driver) you should use winXP to update the firmware or you could brick this thing. I did that so I never tried updating the firmware using Vista.

Purchased this product three weeks ago and have been trying to get it to work since. It may be a great product, but how would I know. E-MU will only support this product by email so communication is at a snails pace. Only one response every 24 hours or so. Also the responses are mostly not helpful and they keep repeating suggestions, because they won't review what has been done so far. I will probably have to return the unit since they won't properly support it.

I have used this for over a year now. It has worked fine except after about 6 months the pots get real scratchy. The pots contacts are low quality. This is a ok product for the price but it won't last. I will be upgrading to presonus with firewire.

Plastic casing isn't as nice as competitors with metal chassis. However, its benefits far outweigh and entirely excuse that limitation. Audio quality is SUPERB - crystal clear in fact. The ratings are legit, no fluff. Mic preamps are potent and clear. Lots of connectivity options. Excellent software package included. USB 2.0 with ULTRA LOW latency. Good Windows ASIO driver, although I liked Presonus's ASIO driver better. Windows DX driver is great and can easily be used as an external sound card without any clipping (unlike Presonus). Encountered issues with the headphone preamp but a firmware update resolved the problem. I evaluated a couple USB interfaces but settled on this EMU for its audio fidelity. I'm thoroughly impressed. Surely the most professional sound you'll get
