I have a pair of Adam A7s and listening to them through my 1616M vs my Mbox2 is a day and night difference! The conversion quality is crystal clear! Preamps are very useable though I prefer my Presonus Eureka. Also, the built-in effects arean't of the greatest quality but I use the DSP compressor from time to time. I have the PCMCIA version and connected it to the PCIe slot in my desktop using a adapter I bought on eBay. It works flawlessly. The product shines in conversion quality which is definitely of professional standard... the effects and preamps are just extras and not recommended for professional recordings, though they aren't bad at all.
I purchased the MicroDock M and moved from a 1212M to add a few inputs. I like to record direct from the box so I don't need a mixer in between the devices, overall cleaner sound.
You can only buy the MicroDock M direct from Emu, and they sent me a used product. Naturally I wasn't happy, but it seemed to perform like new.
Sounds is fantastic. Clean as the 1212M, and is recognized by Windows as the base device did on the 1212M, which is perfect, because when playing music through various applications, it is instantly recognized. Very convenient.
No hum, buzzes, or loose connectors. It seems to be reasonably well made, and the sound is pristine. Delay from asio is negligible to non-existant.
Support is tough. They have no phone number, and email is not returned within 24 hours in some cases. However, that is Sales, not tech support. YMMV.

I recently upgraded to the E-mu 1616m not quite knowing what to expect because reviews on the internet were few and far between. However, when I set it up I was extremely pleased.
First off, the sound on recordings is incredible, very clear and crisp. You'll hear nuances in your mics that you never had before. The pres are pretty good I guess, definitely clean. Though with the quality A/D converters on this thing, you'll want to invest in some good pres anyways. The knobs on the break out box might be a little less sensitive then what I like, but it's not hard to work with.
Even listening to music is incredible on this box. Its sound is so detailed that it makes mp3's sound, well, flawed. I listened to a CD though and it was incredible.
Latency when recording is a non issue. I have the ASIO driver turned down to 2ms and it doesn't stress my computer one bit. No pops or clicks even when recording several tracks on a built up session. However I'd recommend keeping the number of simultaneous recording tracks down to 2 when working at 192kHz.
The PatchMix DSP mixer program that comes with it can be a little confusing and frustrating at first, but once you learn it, it is a very useful tool.

I am sure there are some people who have had a good experience with this product, but I am not one of them. The main reeason why I had problems with this was b/c I had to install the sound card and my PC never really read it right. The software is limited, but not bad, If your looking to start a home studio, just invest a little bit more and get a mac. They are built for recording, theyve got the fire wire ports built in and in my opinion the best software. Just please, save your money.
