The live soft synth answer

I have been using this card in an Averatec computer to play soft synths in a live setting. This is the answer to the cheap amps in most laptops. The card and drivers also cut my latency time to an unnoticable level. I did experience a few small problems with noise and impedance on stage. When we were playing with no snake and I was 5ft from a Mackie all was well,then we went to a 100ft snake with direct boxes and a new mixer. I used a monster cable from Radio Shack to clear up the noise. The impedence problem persisted until I used my 1402VLZ into my channel and plugged into it. This is impractical to move this every week so I am looking into adjusting my windows mixer and or maybe getting a better direct box. I think this is a problem with the mixer setup and not the card. If you own a fairly fast laptop this is the ticket.

You can't ask for better sound reproduction out of a laptop card. Clean, concise and true. Throw it in your laptop breifcase and go. Great portability allows me to work anywhere.

This card seemed like a good choice. I researched it and it looked great.

After 2 weeks of using it every day and handling it carefully, windows suddenly did not recognize it. I re-installed twice and the light came on once on the card. As soon as I hooked up the 1/8 inch cable I got a blue screen.

Frustrated, I went to the computer store thinking it was my bus. Turned out that it was the card!

Beware, this thing is very,very fragile and might break.

I have the Layla Laptop, but I do a lot of travel and the layla is too big to pull out on an Airplane. The Indigo I/O is perfect for me to mix and edit the music I am working on and it sounds just as good as the Layla Laptop. I am very happy with this addition to my studio.
