Great VO Mic

I had been mic shopping for a bit now, and while some folks in the biz may say that this mic is NOT for VO use...i disagree COMPLETELY! This mic has held up to the riggers of the broadcast industry for years and is in production rooms across the country. This being because the quality of this mic beats others to the punch. If you have the cash, this mic is the way to go. Along with a good processor, your sound will reign supreme among audiophiles every where.

Studio Excellence

Being a 17 year radio vet and working for a dozen or so stations, I have logged a lot of time with the RE20 (as well as many other mics). The RE20 is a champ. It sounds really good on almost everybody. I also own my own production studio, and while some people sound better on a good condenser mic, I always test them on the RE20 first, more times than not they sound better on the EV. It's my benchmark. There is a reason why this mic has been the industry standard for decades. You just can't go wrong having one of these in your microphone locker.

For vocals...

I've seen a lot of people mention instrumental uses for this, and some even say that they're not sure how it works for vocals...

So, for you information, this is a microphone heavily used by Thom Yorke, Radiohead's vocalist, for both recording and performance.

So there ya' go, vocalists.

I haven't used a new one so I am not sure if they have cut the quality like some other mic, but the two old ones I have are amazing. I use them for kick and trumpet mostly, and it works really well. I also have used it for bass amps and prefer it for floor toms.

Know that this mic is a pro studio standard for Bass Drum. Also the lead vocals on Bob Dylan's Blood on the tracks was cut with this. Also the lead vocals for the Clash's Combat Rock. After the SM57 and the SM58 this is the next dynamic you will want for a studio.
