Good, yet not so good

I've owned one of these Fantom Drives for over a year now, and it definitely has its pros and cons.

The drive is definitely a good size for the price, looks good (if that matters), and is reliable as far as keeping your data safely backed up.

However, I've noticed that I cannot leave the drive on for a long period of time (long, meaning hours). If left on, the drive will not only freeze itself, but it will also start to freeze up applications that are running. Due to this, the drive must then be powered off, but will not allow the user to un-mount it first, causing the usual warning message that since it was improperly removed, data loss is possible. Thankfully, even though this has happened ALOT to me, I've yet to actually lose any data.

The drive will also "sputter" and skip at times, so if you're doing anything like watching video at the time, it will freeze and maybe jump.

All that being said, the drive is dependable being that it hasn't fully failed me yet. However, I only keep it as a backup-backup, since I do not trust it.

I've spoken with customer service at Fantom, and they were quite rude. They were eager to "assist" when they heard I was having problems with the drive, but in the end offered no assistance and made ME feel as if I was the one at fault. Hmmm..

At such a low price, the drive is probably worth having as that extra backup, a drive you don't use often, as in every day. The fact that the price is so low makes me wonder if they're discontinuing the model due to problems.

In short, use at your own risk!
